It just pops out on mine...I have a WRX though so not sure if it is any different. Just be careful when you are prying it out, the plastic is kinda soft.
Yeah It just pops out...I start by pulling out the bottom and then the top...If I remimber correctly you may need to pull out the center console (shifter console) ^^^SI be careful!!! And good luck!!!
If you've got an 04 (which I think I remember you having) just start at the top of the radio trim piece and pry it out with a flat-head screwdriver. It's all just little plastic pop things. It'll feel like it's breaking, so don't worry about it.
Its extrmely straightforward. Pop open the cup holder, remove it. Use the space since that's gone to remove the trim piece. If you'd rather not use your fingers, use a flat head wrapped in eletrical tape. What ya doing btw?
If you've got an 04 or earlier, pull out the top cup holder, remove the 2 screws and then pry off the silver trim. I dont remember exactly how to do it on an 05+ car but I know I could steal a stereo out of any 02-04 car in probably 30secs since I've pulled mine out for so many different reasons.
