    Remove the Lock
First things first, remove the child safety “omg I’m stuck” handle. There are 5 pop-tabs. Don’t forget the one in the back, its easy to miss. While that’s hanging go ahead and remove the release cable head from the lever. Finally, peek in and take a look at the lock. You’ll find there is a arm running from the latch to the lock itself. Twist the orange clip that’s on the lock lever and the arm will easily come out. Now, you’ll notice a black U-clamp (similar to the rear brakeline clip); go ahead and pop that out. It may or may not take some effort. With the arm and clamp off, the lock will come out of the trunk no problemo.

If Necessary, Remove the Latch It isnt necessary if your new trunk has one...
With enough cold medicine, the latch looks like its waving at you begging to come out :D You’ll see 2 12mm bolts, remove those and he's free.

Finally, its time to remove the trunk.
Before you jump the gun, place something in-between the corners of the trunk and the rear windshield. This will prevent the trunk from potentially damaging anything in the area when your remove it. Unplug the 3rd brake light wiring. 4 12mm bolts fasten the trunk to the hinging arms. These are basically hand tight and easy to remove. The STi trunk isn’t all that heavy, but if you’re not ready it may catch you off guard.

    So What’s Left?
This depends on whether or not you are swapping trunks with someone else or simply replacing yours. If you are swapping trunks you will want to remove the torsion bar. The process is relatively straightforward but somewhat time consuming. Anyways, remove that and replace it with the correct bar (wrx wing = wrx torsion bar).

Nice write up. I did this swap too and the only thing I ran into was the latch being a little stubborn.

You're definitely gettin more of that Spec C look now. :bigthumb:

Haha, thanks. I should pull the sideskirts off for pics when the new wheels get in :) Looking for a badge or something neat for this trunk, ebay is proving no luck though.
