For those of you that care. Brandon and I finished up the wiring and fuel lines on the Black Bugeye today. It fired up on the first try didn't leak any fluid, has zero piston slap and makes zero valvetrain noise. Looks like all those problems othere people have are more of a function of who put it together not the parts that they used.

Hopefully I can get Dan to finish up the intercooler piping tommrow and we can get it on the dyno for a nice break in tune.

It sounds nothing like a Subaru as a matter of fact it sounds nothing like any other car I have ever heard.

yeah it looks like you have everything covered...except maybe a cosworth crank but that might be unnecessary for your goals...i dunno

No reason to change cranks unless you want to go to a stroker. The factory crank is a very nice part.

Oil control system is done. Car has been idling for 5 minutes now. Now if Dan would get here to finish welding the intercooler piping then we can start tuning it for break in.

Ok so Mike sucks, I gave him a video of it Idling for him to post but .....he did not.

It sounds wicked even idling at 1100rpms, once we get it below 1000 it will sound really nasty.

Where's the vid? Matt you post it already.

Oh and I wouldn't do anything else. Also the factory crank is forged and strong.....it just can't rev over 7600 rpms reliably due to oiling issues.

You can run the factory crank higher, just needs some work to do so. The main issue with the factory crank is that the #3 main bearing has to supply oil to both the #2 rod and #3 rod. I am running the stock crank in my car and have done alot of oil passage work to the block but still don't plan on reving much over 7500rpms. On my next block I will run an aftermarket crank and dry sump. That motor I plan on running much higher revs with a much larger turbo.

Can't wait to see what the car will do at the track.

Dude...you can't run the factory crank over 7600 rpms reliably on a day to day basis. Now if you do some work to it then it's no longer a factory crank but a 'modified' factory crank.

Update, Dan finished the intercooler piping.

I have a few things left to get this weekend. Should be able to start tuning it on Monday.

I need an Oring for the Tial BOV
    1 12 AN 90 degree fitting.
    1 2.75 to 3.0 coupler.
    Install the AEM boost control
    Install the 02 sensor bung.

I reall want to do Wiggins clamps on the Intercooler pipes but they work out to about 200 bucks each and thats a lot of cheese to blow.

    I'll update again tommrow.
