In Romania they now have fully legal and organized street races on public roads and airports!!! This is a great idea. Why don't they do this more here. Lets face it, regardless of the law, people will always street race. If the government would step in, and provide a supervised place to do it legally, people would be less inclined to do this on regular roads where there is traffic. They did something like this in Texas I think. It was featured in a magazine a while back. Beat the Heat. Supposedly it reduced the amount of illegal street racing by about 70%. It still happened randomly on the streets, but it was very rare. Every Thursday night, the police would block off a few blocks and let people go at it. The cops even had a dupped up Camero that they raced.
tracks are starting to close, due to their noise level. we lost the Dallas dragstrip to this. i wish there were more tracks around to combat street racing.
