I dunno what forum this is most suitable for, but if anybody knows of any particularly 'lenient' emissions shops (if you catch my drift), please PM me. Its for a friend with an OBD-1 car.

Go to a really shady place in atlanta somewhere. Then don't beat around the bush at all just tell the guy straight up that you will pay him to pass. Done deal

How is that? They scan the vin# now and then the computer has to read the ecu from the same car.

I was trying to find a place around a year ago with absolutly no luck.

I have a 4x4 play truck that would pass with just the tail pipe test but would fail on the dyno. I even tried to play up that the truck was locked in full-time 4wd. But out of 6 or so places that I went to, they were insistant that it had to be ran on the dyno. Even the same facility and tech that passed it the year before with the tailpipe test turned me down. Apparently they are really cracking down on the testing facilities.

I would recommend getting the car checked to see what area it fails in and look for quick remodies from there. I was failing on NoX (no EGR on there anymore) and I was able to "fix" it with a couple of gallons of methanol in the tank.

Not all o.b.d. 2 machines scan the v.i.n. and not all computers have the v.i.n.written into them.
It appears there is still ways to clean-pipe a car..
