Since my Father works for Lenovo (formerly IBM) and I have a several year old T series, I like the new thinkpads. That being said, there are cheaper products with more bells and whistles out there. Lenovo (IBM) are known for the quality and stability of their systems, if that is the main focus, I don't think you can go wrong...
im not abusive to the laptop so warranty is not so important Is there anything out there for $700 that is un the 5lb area that i should lookk at ?
you might pm techlord on here. he has access to a great number of slightly used lenovo's from lockheed. He can usually hook you up...I've bought 4 so far for myself and friends.
how much did you pay on average for the 4? I need one for teh cheap, and this might be the route to go!
I payed $350 for each...they are really great computers. They're T40s, though I'm not sure on the specs anymore, I couldn't be more happy with the computer. He'll be able to fill you in on any info and they're availability. Here's what i remember: Pentium M 1.5 ghz 512mb ram wi-fi dvd-rom/cd-rw windows xp + or - a few things! He gets them when he can so you gotta check with him.
