Lowering my 02

    Im getting some springs for my 02 and it says it will lower about 1.8 on the front and .07 in the back or so, im I going to have to get a camber kit @ the same time or can I drive it like that for a while or will it even make much of a difference on the tire wear??? thanks for the input

    You'll want that camber kit ASAP.
    I've had a buddy burn through a set of tires in 5K miles w/springs and no camber kit.
    I think camber bolts are like $30.

    $30 is that a set or each? and is that in all 4? b/c I had a dodge stealth b4 and i lowered about 2" all 4 and it didn't burn through the tires. Well I guess all cars are not made equal

    Go check TireRack for camber bolts. The quick search I did showed that they were
    $20 each for up to 2 degrees adjustment or $10 each for 1 degree adjustment. You could probably get away with the 1 degree set. It's not so much the camber setting you've got to worry about, it's whether or not the toe was messed with when it was lowered.

    Please get the bolts and have it done right! I lowered the hell out of mine, got camber bolts and had Gran Turismo set the allignment for friggin race specs...burned thru tires in about 6k. Had to back it down to 215' 17 45's in order to take some of the camber out and not eat tires. Originally when I dropped it, only the rear scraped so you might be allright just getting the bolts for the rear. Like I said, do it right... or you'll be eating $671.00 for new tread + another allignment....

    getting the camber correct is important, but the real wear on your tires comes from incorrect toe. the camber (if you're short on time/cash) can be combatted by frequent rotations.

    I forgot to mention, my scrubbing problem was made worse due to my rims being the wrong offset... so if your on stockers, or have an offset of 48 degrees or higher, you might be in better shape. Monk, I'm sure GT had my Toe set correctly, I think if was just a very aggresive allignment for street driving.

    whats the difference between toe and camber (sorry Im a newbie as far as suspencion)
