hey guys i have a 2003 wrx sedan with the 17" black d2 rotas and im ready to lower the car. im not sure which lowering springs are the best to go with or which ride height is the best. im not looking to take the car to the track, but just get a nice look to the car. if you could please help me out with some springs that i should look into. also would it just require replacing the springs? thanks guys.
You can just replace the springs if you want (I did). Or, you can take it a step further and upgrade your struts. Personally, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not tracking the car, but I wanted a better stance and reduce body roll. I got Tein H-tech springs (pics in my signature) and I'm going to wait and upgrade my struts once the stockers go bad.
Just for looks the H-techs are a good choice as mentioned, so are the STi pinks. Both have a decent even drop and a good spring rate. If you plan to do autox or anything serious I would choose something different like the Espelir's since they have the highest spring rate. I use the Eibach Pro Kit right now. I wish the front end was a little lower, and I wish the rear spring rates were a little higher, but they aren't bad just for looks. Not the best autox setup, but they work well with the KYB's AGX. You can definitely get away with just replacing the springs. I rode for over a year and 20k plus miles on my stock struts and did lots of autox's on them. They would have went much longer than that as well. There wasn't oscilation either, like some setups can give you. Make sure you get an alignment afterwards. It may also help to get some camber bolts for the rear, because you may not be able to maintain OEM alignment due to the drop.
for looks only...I like the s-techs...if you had a wagon I would have said h-techs.....I love my s-tech's on my bugeye!!
On my 03' I went with Whiteline Flatouts and KYB-GR2 struts. I loved the look, it was lowered perfect, however, the ride was really harsh. I'd recommend a spring with less drop so its not so bad.

i really enjoy my prodrives, the drop is enough to close the gap but it's not slammed. also grm and scc both suggest not to over lower a wrx as you may lose the ability to accelerate on even the roughest surface, which really is the most charming part of the car.
Its always a good laugh to see the kids with the riced out Honda's and like the three inch drop, so they have to drive around speed bumps.:rofl:
