Stainless steel brake lines didn't give me all the improvement in pedal feel that I wanted. The only other place I can think of in the braking system that could flex is the master cylinder itself. I have been contemplating picking up a support brace for it. Here's one made by Perrin. Anyone using something similar?

I was just talking with someone about these braces during the install day Saturday.

I'd be interested in hearing what you've got to say about it after you install it.

    Cusco makes one as well.

This is the first time I have seen this. Looks pretty cool. I am interested in the results as well.

Pedal feel squeeshy? Your not slowing down fast enough? Feeling a lot of abs?

personally until someone can prove to me that the master cylinder is moving more than 0.100" i dont think bracing the master cylindder will help.

The brace that you see in the OP pic is a cantilever design and if (BIG IF) you can move the Master cylinder that much and the brace is mounted on a round sheet metal i dont it will stop it from moving - again i want to be proven wrong

If you can move the master cylinder that much
    I have an alternate solution

Bah, why stop there. I plan on getting the Carbing strut bar -- solid mount strutbar w/ mcb ;)

If you have a magnetic base and a dial indicator you can set it up on the end of the master cylinder and measure that.

thats even a longer cantlever arm than the picture above.

Cantilever arms are great for damping but not for stiffness

I can assure you that the master cylinder moves. I'm not convinced that cute little arm is going to stop it either.

    thats exactly my point

how much i need to have some quantitative number so i wont make a part (and people call it snake oil) and i dont have a way to justify the 1/2 $$ of the name brands.

if that cantilever arm aftermarket brake brace is flexing it wont be long before it cracks, unless you dont touch the brakes (if thats the case you dont need the brace) :)

I would go with the cusco one. The design is better imo.
