I've always wanted to try meth on my 2.0 02 subaru wrx.

    mods:
    3" turboback
    stage 2 from cobb2
    BOV

How safe is it to run meth on stock motor? Or is it even possible. Can you run it on a DD car, or just race cars? How does it work? What advantages and disadvantages would I expect to see? Do you have to go pro tune? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

No need to bash on me if I'm coming out dumb, I just want some power with out major modifications.

How many miles on that engine? 40 or so hp; you can run it on a DD; you will need protune...and your car will be broken.

Did you get your license back yet?

I would also suggest at least an Up-Pipe, air-filter or CAI, and at least a silicone Y-pipe on the intercooler. The bigger the turbo the bigger the gains with high octane / meth. So on the extremely small stock WRX turbo the gains would be MUCH bigger to do STi turbo, tmic, and injectors...

But then when you use need that new motor you'll already have the peripherals to have a decent 2.5l

I already went down the vf39 road. It costed me so much, well I could have went with some sort of rotated setup. If I was going to do a vf3x setups ever again, I would rather trade in my car for an sti and go from there.

Good god how much were you paying for a vf39? I used modded stock injectors (Scott modded them, I think maybe $100), got my vf39 used from wjm ($300, and you can find them cheaper if you look) and had a walbro 255 fuel pump ($100 shipped, super simple install I did myself). Protune ~$250 iirc. So $500 (or less) for parts then your protune. You can't get any (decent/non-eBay) rotated kit for anywhere near $750....

I was talking about all out vf39 setup. Im talking about going from stock to full supporting all out vf39 setup.

    FMIC
    Vf39
    pinks
    fuel pump
    UP
    DP
    catback
    turbo inlet
and few other dings here and there

to install all i got quote for over a grand=1000
tune 1xx per hour which takes 3-4 hours.=400-500

Yeah he did. And trust me, I would do what he say. But, in this economy, i rather have extra buck in my pocket, than extra hp under the hood. :unamused:

actually...the only things that are different from your list and S.S.'s is a K&N drop in filter and the IC. I think the FMIC might cause a bit lag on the 2.0L w/ a vf-39...maybe :dunno:

Have you thought about any suspension/brake upgrades to handle all the new power? Let me guess...

    A: you don't/didn't need a FMIC.
B: you could have saved yourself that $1000 if you did the installs yourself.
C: my VF39 tune was only 2hrs. (might take 3hrs at most) don't think i've seen one take 3-4, unless you got serious problems

but the setup i always wanted to do was:
    Big TMIC
    VF39
    44mm externally gated uppipe
    full 3" turboback
    meth
    2.5 shortblock
    STi cams on WRX heads

that would make a great DD car

Modify the stock injectors = free
    Fuel pump 100
    Used uppipe 100
    vf39 300

total = 500 if you do the labor yourself

You need to do the uppipe before getting meth.

Meth is expensive, online resources, tools and a little patience and you will save yourself hundreds of dollars on the turbo swap. There are 8 bolts holding on a turbo and then the oil line and the coolant lines. For meth you have to buy the kit ~$350 for a decent used one. Then you have to keep the tank filled. And if you don't want to swap a turbo then I would hate to see you tap your throttle body.

Cliffs: If you're arguing that a VF series setup is expensive and you can't do the labor: Keep your car stock

One observation I made about guys running meth on mountain runs is that they're going through an aweful lot of it. (We run hard, not cruising). If you do performance driving you'll want a large reservoir. Small reservoirs mean alot of refilling when driving hard.

    ^^^This

btw, I have most of the setup you want...

    STi Uppipe
    VF43
    STi Topmount
    Modded Injectors

granted, you're looking at more than $500 for that...

STIbottom is right if you buy it by the gallon which is why I just bought a 55 gal drum, I can sell for 1/2 the price of shops and still make a few cents.

2thache is right on the hard driving, it will eat it up fast, but for regular street use I consume about 1 tank of meth to 2.5 tanks of gas. At the track little Tally I get no more than 15-20 laps which is good as the sessions are usually about 15-20 min and I am not turning a min lap YET.
I will purchase a larger tank as soon as I find one.

employers pay into unemployment newb, not you. but then there's an argument that unemployment tax would result in higher wages (probably not though, just more profits)

    anyway,

Wait I thought you said you'd rather do rotated than do vf39 again?!?

You do know that vf43=vf39 w/ different wastegate size right??

Same difference. Either way, make sure you get a new uppipe!
