Figured I would start my own thread. I bought a 96 brighton, for the sole purpose of building a true racecar to compete with. My plans for the car are as follows: 2.7L race motor, STI 6sp, complete fuel system, AEM standalone, Gt35r turbo, one wicked racing suspension, custom wiring harness, LGT intake manifold, custom intercooler setup, STI brakes, STI hubs and suspension, Stack digital dash, full 12 point rollcage, 265/40/18 wheels and tires, two racing seats, tranny and diff coolers, and few other things here and there. For now These pics are of the 2.7L motor, STI tranny, my new pimp 22 gallon fuel cell, 06 sti roof spoiler, and R180 diff. As the car sits right now the car weights 1910lbs, I figure I still have about 450lbs to put into her with the turbo kit, plumbing, cage, and few other things here and there. I still have alot left to do to the car, but will keep updating this thread with new pics as I complete them.
should just be a certain model line Subaru had during that period of the 90's. If I remember correctly they had brighton Legacy's as well. I forget what was different about them though. That's an awesome car though!
I'm pretty sure they were the completely stripped down base models. Cant wait to see it done and racing!
Very nice I am looking to do something similar myself, perhaps a bit more streetable. Still looking for the car, nothing out there.
Brightons were the lightest impreza model made. No power windows or locks. Not real sure what else they left off. But they were AWD.
Got most of the cage done  minus a few bars in the back. No weight on the car yet, but will update later once the cage is complete.
That is a tight car, Doug!!. I can't wait to see it when it is finished...It is really going to put down some great numbers... Mark
Brian - Luke will most likely be the one racing the car at OLA07, however I plan on doing some Nasa Time Trials and runing the car in SCCA SPO. baddriver - the cage is bent by chassis engineering, however they must send you a spec sheet where you list all the bends, angles, radius, etc.... so its like building a custom cage yourself. Really all they bend is the halo bar, main hoop, and front down tubes. Everything else you make.
Is that a regular STi engine or is it modified? As light as that is gonna be.....man it gonna be NASTY :dirty:
cool....I was wondering how this was going...thanks for the update!!! can't wait to see clips of this bad boy on the track!!! :sx:
Niiiiiiiiice. So do you think you will have to find some custom suspension bits to get that car low now that there is going to be NO weight to it? Or have you already got your plan for that?
Look Doug! I have popped my cherri on your Thread! Matt...I definetly did not tell you about ALL the engines I build. Im an engine builder, I only tell you part of my plans. I have plans for engines that stretch way beyond anyones thought process in this industry. Thats why I can build a 1300hp Honda engine to last all season w/o opening it up. BTW Doug....:fawk: :keke: Howard
guys: dont let this thread get nasty... this is a journal, let it remain that way... whoever comes up with the next smart comment will get banned PM me if you have any concerns
