I would suggest you go wider than 7.5...

I would go wider as well.

I'd get the 17×9.5 et38. Throw on a set of Advan Neova AD07 245/40/17 and you'll be super set!

^ what he said... i don't know what performance gains you expect from going to a larger diameter wheel that is skinner than stock (17x8). Also I'd rock the RE01rs versus the neova.

I thought that offset would burn up wheel bearings?

    don't know about a 9.5 width, but i do know on a WRX w/ 17x8 et38 it could.
the 05 STi has better bearings though.

the 9.5 width will put enough tire back under the car to counteract the 38 offset moving the whole tire outwards, so it will be OK. ive rocked 8.5s with a 42 offset for 30k miles and no problems in my wrx

30k miles is a lot in this case, IMO.

Those are some badass rims though. I'd get some of those if I was in the market for some new wheels.

Mini bump. What's the point of 9.5 inches wide if you're only going to put 245s on them? That's a waste of 1.5 perfectly good inches. :)

Hey homie,I ended up getting the Enkie Rp03 18x8,+40mm offset.Along with some yokohama s drive 235/40.These tires stick out a bit 2 much.Next time I'll probably get 225,due to the fact that i'll be putting springs.I should have enough clearence between the fenders(rear).

Congrats on the purchase. Now, when you say the tires stick out too much, do you they just stick out too much past the rim, or that the wheel/tire combo stick out too far. I ask because +40 is a little on the low side for the wrx/sti.

Oh yeah, and pics on the car!

    Roll your rear fenders?

    To address several questions:

Why 245? For whatever reason I tought they were for autox STU (245 limit)

Wheel bearings? I wouldnt run a wheel with an offset that low on the street regardless.
