= Me Changed the oil myself. Used subaru oil filter and brand new crush washer. Tightened everything up, and there is a very slow leak at the seal between drain plug and oil pan. Ok, so I wanted to put on my new fumoto valve anyway. Drained the oil, put on fumoto valve with crush washer but no blue washer and put in new oil. Still the same leak, very slow but very annoying. Slow leak as in way less than a quart lost every few weeks. And I was about to start modding my car! HAh, what a retard.
nope (allof the parking spots at my apt have many, many oil spots), but I am seeing a drop at the tip of my fumoto valve and an oil/dirt mixture coating the metal of the oil pan and parts immediately behind
next oil change: use new crush washer and make sure the old one is not on the pan(crushed) and the last few threads of the valve or plug some teflon tape before you pun tthe crush washer on
Had some yellow teflon tape (gas grade) lying around. Put fumoto valve back on with tape, put oil back in, and drove around a bit. Now I'm just waiting around to check oil level and look for leaks. The valve felt like it had a nice seal when it went on though, we'll see. Thanks
I did an oil change once when I had a drip like that. When I torqued properly, the drip disappeared. 33 ft-lb for the stock drain plug. Any torque guidance come with the Fumoto?
Fumoto valve did not come with torque specs (that I could find) but I don't have a torque wrench anyway.
The valve is brass, you cannot really wrench on it. You should be able to turn it 3/4 of a turn past hand tight to secure it properly.
Saturday I put it back on with teflon as stated before and no visible leaks or any sign of oil loss. Thanks goixiz for the suggestion. Problem solved.
