Does anyone know of a really good detailer? Someone that is competent with fine cut polishing and buffing?

Reason being is there is a manufacturer defect with the paint around my sunroof that will probably be cured by a good job of polishing/buffing.

Also, anyone have any idea if Subaru would pay for the detailing if it cured the defect? I had the service manager at SoG look at it and he said it was definately a defect in the paint, but that the SoA rep would have to look at it before he could get it re-sprayed, but that a good buff job might fix it.

    "Shit'll buff out"

Haha anyways...I'm not sure about any shops, but I really doubt that Subaru will pay to have it done. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think I've ever heard of a dealership paying to have someone else do warranty work.

Let SoG have it fixed that way if anything else goes wrong with it you can bring it back to them.

If you get a detailer to try and they can't fix it, then you are out whatever it costs. If you take it to SOG, sure they don't do the work themselves, but if their people can't fix it, then you are not out any money.

Also, if you get a detailer to try, and they can't get it, and you go back to SOG and tell them the detailer couldn't fix it, they could turn around and say that something the Detailer did messed up the paint and that they won't pay to repair it.

Just go to SOG and let them do what they need to do to get it fixed.

Thanks for all the advice guys, but ignoring the paint issue, does anyone have a recommendation for a really really good detailer?

i went their to see if they could do some body work for me on my body kit and they told me they don't do body work, but they recommended autoglo in decatur. also there is a body shop right next to SoG called gerber collision i think. i went over to autoglo and they were very nice and helpful and as soon as i can figure out what body kit i want, i am going to have autoglo do all of my body work...hope this helps

I had to get a MASSIVE dent removed from where some guy put a hit and run on me. SoG sent me to Autoglo in Decatur. They did a great job. I highly recommend them for paint and body work. They'll do a free estimate if you drive over there, so there's nothing to lose by letting them check it out.

    *shameless plug*

I can remove pretty much any paint defect that can be removed without repainting the car. I can do all kinds of things like swirl removal, major scratch removal, touch up paint, oxidation removal, and wetsanding. I removed some very major and ugly scratches from WRboXer's rear drivers side door so he can give you a second opinion of my work :).

I can also travel as long as I have access to running water and an electrical outlet. Anyway, if you would like me to take a look at it, post a pic or email me one (VR4Rob at yahoo dot com) and I can tell what I can do.

If you want some examples of my work, check out my site: RLII PaintWorks

    I took this:
