We'll I guess any online gamer will be able to answer this.. I just bought a PS3 and need to know what I need to get online. Here is my current set-up... I have a cable modem thru Comcast. The modem is by the TV and where the PS3 will go.. I have no wireless router or any router for that matter.. The modem only has one port thats not in use, and I've been told its firewire(triangle looking, with a raised square in the middle). The PS3 comes with an ethernet cable... I'd rather not go wireless if I don't have to, since everything is right there together... but if it makes more sense or is easier I'm not against it. So basically, I need to know what items I'll need, best brands at the best price etc...

no. you'll need to get a router, and hook the PS3 and PC into the router, and the WAN side of the router to the cable modem.

step 1: buy a router, don't spend more than $50
step 2: plug computer and PS3 into ethernet ports on router
step 3: plug cable modem into external/WAN side of profit
    step 4: ????
    step 5: PROFIT

^^^ lol... thx.. think I have a handle on it pretty much. I plan to go wireless though, and I know that PS3 is allready set-up for it, I assuming my PC is going to need a wireless adaptor. What exactly are they called(or is it just wireless adaptor) and how much should I expect to pay? The routers I've been looking at are between $30-40...

you won't need a wireless adapter for your PC. just get a router with a built in switch (it will have ethernet ports on the back, around 5 ports usualy). 4 will be for devices you want to have internet access, and one will plug into the cable modem. think of it like a TV splitter. one cable goes to your cable modem, other two go to your PS3 and PC. you can keep both of them wired, both wireless, or a mix or whatever the fuck you want.

^^^ k, makes sense... I still don't see how the PC will recognize the router if I go wireless... There'll be no ethernet cable from PC to router... I know, I know... its not that difficult, just never worked with it before...

^^^ Thx, I'll def be taking you up on that... I really want to get rid of the ethernet cable going to my PC, in crosses my front door.. is ugly, and a tripping hazzard. So if I'm getting a wireless router, this would solve my dilemma..no? So, do I need a wireless adaptor for my PC or no?
