i have been doing a lot of reading latly and from what i have read redline is the way to go. I have a nasty grind when i shift to 4th gear and it happens everyday i drive the car. It will either scratch, or grind and it only does it at high rpms and quick shifts. I have royal purple now and i think that may be causing some of hte problems.

well after reading i have read that if i do redline shockproof it should eliminate this problem for the most part. My question is what should i do; lightweight, the middle grade, or heavy? also can you fill a tranny and diff with shockproof? or do i need to do a cocktail style?

omg get off royal purple now. That is worst stuff for your tranny. I'm running redline shockproof right now and its the best stuff out there! Right now im running heavy in mine . Yes you can fill your diff with shockproof!

Hmmm Ive heard a lot of varying opinions, on this. I have run synchomesh instead of shockproof and had good results on that, but never tried the shockproof combo. After my clutch change, whatever fluid was placed in the car eliminated all grinds that I had and other issues(with a lil synchomesh for good measure). Gotta go ask what that was. Give Uncle Scotty's tm* mix a try or go stock and change every 20k.

Redline is thick and going to take a long time if you dont have a funnel. i think 1 hour to drain and fill.

Then i dont think that has anything to do with the redline. do you know if it pops out of when backing out if so then i would recommend going to a trannsmission shop to have it inspected. Trust me im on my third transmission

wrxguy, if you are talkin to me, no it doesn't pop out of gear when I'm going reverse.

I really doubt that my tranny is going bad since I've never drag raced and launched my car 2-3 times after purchasing the car lol.

I had this happen with crap tranny oil though. My prelude started grinding 5th when I got the 5spd swap done and I didn't have any gear oil at the time so used synthetic motor oil. After replacing with Honda fluid, it went away.

I've read other people having problems with grinding gears with Redline NS on Nasioc so I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with the tranny. ;)
