Does anyone know how many gallons or what the driving range would be once the low fuel light comes on for an '05/'06/07 STI? I'm not sure how driving range is for the reserve fuel tank.

    Cheers,
    Ali

I believe when the light come on you have 2.3 gallons of go juice left.

Well, its not a reserve tank. Its just telling you that your main tank is low.

It varies from car to car and driving conditions. Sometimes its 5 gallons, sometimes its 2 gallons...sometimes 1 or less.

In my Legacy the light comes on like clockwork at 4 gallons. But when I have less than 1.5 gallons, the light goes back off.

Best thing to do is look in your owners manual and see fuel tank capacity and fill it up .Drive til light comes on and fill up again, then do the math.

Damn you guys are lucky, my car gets pissy and has terrible fuel starvation if I'm below a half tank and take a turn at any speed. I even got it in a straight line once right after the fuel light came on. I think I've seen the low fuel light ~5 times in the 3+ years of owning this car.

When my light comes on I have around 2 gallons left.

Has anyone noticed a performance difference after filling the tank up? I wouldn't really call it an improvement...the throttle just feels different. It is hard to explain.

I have felt it with several of my cars. All three of my integras 91-95, and now my WRX when they get low on fuel the throttle feels wispy, thin, light...you don't notice it until after a fill up. Then, the throttle just feels more...substantial...best word I can think of. All I know for sure is that my car feels different between when I drive into the gas station to when I leave the gas station.

    I don't know. Anyone?

I would think the weight change makes the handleing feel a bit different...I think the car feels more balanced with a full tank.

Well yes, but what I am talking about is definately in the throttle department.

I've gone 50+ w/ light on, but it's not the greatest idea to start throwing corners since the pickup might start sucking air.

My gas light is stupid. If I start the car and it is reading anything less than a half a tank then the light comes on and about 5 miles down the road it goes off. Then I start is up again and it does the same thing
