So yesterday I went to Allpro (thanks again guys) and got my oil changed.
Went from the subaru 5w30 to the Shell 5w40.
For those of you who are wondering how it runs (2011 WRX 2.5l EJ255)
So far it seems like the engine runs smoother (quieter)? And my average mpg seems to have gone up to 24. But I also switched to Shell Vpower gas so the results could be a combination of both oil and feul.
And this is only after a day so I will keep you guys updated

It's the magical combination of using 2 Shell products at the same time...

i don't know about T6...what's all the fuss about?

P.S. u went all the way to allpro for an oil change?? that's quite a drive... also, right after an oil change, doesn't the car run better regardless of what oil you use?

    Yes and Yes LOL.
the touch up paint, i got from SoG for around 10$.
It definitely doesn't blend in perfectly with the original paint but you cant notice the chips unless you look for them now.
and it helps with preventing the chips from rusting. I'll snap some photos tomorrow

t6 on a 2.0L WRX injecting methanol DAILY. Lasted 170,000 miles at 300+ hp it's entire life.

Changed it every 5k miles too. Mobil 1 had to be changed every 1500-2000 miles with methanol use. I used a TON of methanol. About an entire gallon every 3 tanks.

Depends on your filter of choice. I used Purolator PureOne. $22 typically.

I've never had an issue with the Rotella 5w40. Once upon a time, I used to run it for the summer and the german Castrol for the winter. I abandoned that after a few years and chose to run the Rotella product year round. And fwiw, I use the OEM Tokyo Roki black H6 filters.

    I'm assuming you mean shoplifting.
If that is what you meant, that's not really cool.

    So far so good.
Quieter Idle, No change in fuel economy, cheaper than dealership oil, apparently better for our engines than some competitors, etc.

Subaru can not void your warranty based on the brand of oil you use.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which states, in part, in title 15, United States Code, Section 2302, subdivision (c), as follows:

“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the [Federal Trade] Commission if –

    (1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and

    (2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. The Commission shall identify in the Federal Register, and permit public comment on, all applications for waiver of the prohibition of this subsection, and shall publish in the Federal Register its disposition of any such application, including the reasons therefor.”

Under this federal statute, a manufacturer, who issues a warranty on your motor vehicle, is prohibited from requiring you to use a particular brand of air filter, oil filter, or other service or maintenance item, unless such item is provided, free of charge, under your warranty or unless the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) waives this prohibition against the manufacturer.
