I've been doing some research on spring/strut vs coilovers and have decided to go with a good spring / strut combo. I daily drive the car and go up into the mountains a bit. I don't really need the option to adjust the settings so I can't see a reason to get coilovers. There are so many different options available for springs / struts that it's crazy. What are people running on here for setups? Have any suggestions? Remember this will be for daily driving and mountain runs. I don't think I'll be doing autox or track days.

    Thanks!

Oh, Front and rear sway bars and endlinks along with bushings are already in the works. I also am putting new michelin PSS on the car next month.

I have BC's revalved by FEAL Suspension with Swift springs but if I had to do it over again I'd go with Tokico D-spec's and RCE or Swift springs. If you have STI inverted struts you can have them rebuilt by FEAL for a $100 a piece

my coilover experience won't do you any good here. However, I've used Koni yellows on my civic and absolutely loved them.

So far it looks like a good spring/strut combo will cost just as much as coilovers.

Yeah pretty much, just preference and price limitations. I'll be in sandy springs tonight and tomorrow probably most of the day. Like I said. Still on stock struts for the time being. I'll message you my number and we can try to hook up.

I had Tein Flex coilovers and they were pure trash. Worked but not that well. Went to Tokico DSpec's and RCE Black springs. The best daily driving combo that turned faster and better than the Teins did.

And the teins are what? Atleast $1400 right? Or are those the $1800 ones

bring me your $1K CO's and a good set of strut springs like RCE, Swift or Eibach and I'll show you the difference. The spring rates and rebound on most of the cheaper entry level CO's is shitty at best and will usually cost more to get right than just buying the good ones to start with.

It's been so long I don't know....I bought them from Milo and Milo didn't buy junk so probably the higher priced ones.

Yeah, well tein has a hold bunch of different selections all the way up to the 3k+
Range. But either way, swift/rce blacks/spec-r and tokico d-specs are like $809 and $375, so figure $1200 after shipping, and group-n top hats front and rear are right around $450 and change.
So for $1600-1700 you'll have a spring/strut como that'll out perform probably any coilovers from the vendor within that price range. But you do loose adjustability. But that can be sacrificed in my opinion

Did the DSpec's just significantly raise their prices? 3 years ago I swear I paid $700-750 for the struts and the springs from turninconcepts.

When me and b_reel were looking amonth or two back that's what we found. Which is why I was gonna go with built OEM struts from FEAL. But I'll recheck before I order having seen what you said.

Doing some spring research between the RCR yellow, black and the Swift-R spec. They yellow and black are basically the same from what I can tell. The only difference is that the yellow drops the car a little lower than the black. The black is just a little lower than stock ride hight. The Swift-R spec seem to be a little much for a daily driver and some mountain runs. Although they are progressive springs where as the other two are not. I need to look at some pictures of cars that have these springs on them.

I had the Blacks. My co-worker has the Swifts. Both of us were/are on Tokico DSpecs. My findings...his seems to maybe be just a little lower....but we are/were on different wheel setups. However my Blacks were much more daily driver friendly whereas his was a little on the harsh side. Performance wise I'd say they matched.

ya, I'm not looking for a harsh ride. So, maybe I'll just look between the black and yellow's.

It wasn't that bad and to be honest he may have had the DSpecs stiffer but I think we both were on the mid settings. Of course I don't have my car any more but he still has his and every time I get in it I complain about how I'm glad I don't have a lowered car.

I say lowered loosely because my M3 was lowered too but it had Ohlin suspension on it and it rode so smooth and comfortably.

OEM tophats. Saggy butt shims? Not sure what that is but I did have to use something to make it fit my model year in the rear I believe. It's been years.

Looks like a great DD/ weekend fun setup would be Tokico D-spec, RCE Blacks,Group N top hats. Along with the spacers etc.. that will be needed.
