I guess I scare him

All joking aside my 18g is creeping like a mofo. Holding full 22 psi to redline. This cold weather sucks when it gets this cold. When it dips below freezing my car likes to creep. Gonna double check all the EBCS lines and loosen the WG actuator arm a little to help save my engine like SS suggested.

So a heads up guys with this cold weather.....watch the taper on your tunes!

EWG = really loud ass car. Trust me my car is loud enough now. WJM told me when SS was dynoing my car that it was about 1.4 milos.

Well that is just if they are dumping...if you take it back into the exhaust it is really not much different.

    ^^ yeah...
doesn't have to be dump to atmosphere, you could always have it run back into the dp.

Forgot to mention...you won't get the same hp going back into exhaust, but it was ususally about 15-20 hp more than iwg. With dump it is 35-40. But still, in eliminating the creep, that in itself is a reason to go with it I would think. Have you looked into a different EBC? Maybe the GM or something like the Perrin?

^^^ I think this is stretching the hp gains a bit...

He's got the Perrin, and it's going 0% by 5800 rpm... After that it's all mechanical...

So basically the only thing that could eliminate it at this point is an EWG if the actuator adjustment does not help?

I thought that the hks bov was loud but the ewg is so much more so. It is even more fun now that I can get the ewg to dump right as a I pass somebody.

Talk about scaring the piss out of someone. :naughty:

Obviously the only time its loud is when you get on it. By then you probably are already breaking several laws and making a ton of noise so what the difference?

    EWG to atmosphere FTW!

EWG kicks ass, I love it. Have you ever heard a twin turbo Porsche with twin external wastegates.

    OHhhhhhhh so sexy

EWG isn't the only way to fix creep. Porting the wastegate a bit larger and going with a bigger flapper will help too.

Why would I want anymore hp right now? Sitting at 362tq and 352 hp right now. I am at the limits of safeness and reliability.....hell the car is pushing reliability buttons now due to the high numbers.

The one thing I have not found out about these things is wouldn't it be loud all the time? I mean at part throttle at 3400 rpms the wastegate has to do something to keep the turbo from making full boost right? So wouldn't it be dumping then too? I have never driven an EWG car, so my experience with them is limited to the sound clips/videos that I have seen and they all seem to be going WOT.

Right now my boost controller is set to 1 bar so anything below that it stays closed. The spring is 11 psi so even with out the boost controller it cannot open until then.

If it made the noise it does at wot while just driving around, I'd go crazy.

Cause it's the Quarter Mile Killa! I'll push it even more once I get the funds for a tranny upgrade and a 2.5L.

Ah so it really only opens if you go over 14.7?

Yep, and when I am fully tuned it will be even higher before it starts to dump.

The noise is totaly related to the weight of your right foot ;)

Gotcha, that is not too bad at all if it only opens then. For some reason I was thinking it would open more at part throttle, but I guess there is not enough gas pumping through to spool the turbo enough to necessitate it.
