Are you supposed to be able to hear the stock BOV at all? Or does the stock airbox muffle it? I just got my WRX a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to make sure everything is working ok. I'm not asking because I want it to "sound cool". I'm asking because sometimes it feels like it stumbles a little between shifts and it feels like compressor surge. Either that or maybe I just haven't gotten used to the clutch yet.

Well, mine at least makes a bit of a "pshew" sound, but the volume of which seems to be really dependent on atmospheric conditions, like the temperature mainly (seems louder when it's colder outside...probably due to the denser air) and of course how much boost you're making before you lift.

But no, it's not really that loud at all.
