Hi, I just bought my car (black 05 wrx) ..

and I was just wondering if i take out the subaru emblem in the trunk, the paint under the emblem will be the same color or look the same as the trunk ...

bc my car is not brand new ... and it might be kinda risky to take it out if ia m not sure if it'll all be the same ... lol ..

    yeah just wondering ... thanks

Yeah I have the same reservations about doing it. I didn't really consider it until about a year after I got my car (black 03) and I was too chicken to risk it back then, so I'm definitely too chicken to do it now. I'm just going to leave it and if I ever get repainted, then I'll get rid of it.

I think it would be ok since it's only a couple of years old. A lot of the Honda guys do it to 5 and 10 year old cars without any problems...

I personally think you should leave that stuff on there though. Unless for some reason you're ashamed of the make of the car. :dunno

I took mine off of my '02 2 years after I got it. There was some color fading, but I just kept buffing and waxing over the spots and now you can't even tell they were there before.

Just be careful taking off the letters, and make sure that you don't let the corner of one scratch the paint.

I have a 05 wrx and I took mine off about 3 months ago. It looks great, real clean. I say do it. I took my letters off with dental floss. Dont forget the blowdryer

Dental floss works, but mine kept breaking. Fishing line works the best.

As for the fading, I managed to get rid of the outlines 97% within 1 day, and the rest was gone by the next week from just driving around.

Try dental floss or fishing line w/ heat...it'll be a mark free approach.

Be sure to heat up the letters with a hairdryer or something and then use some dental floss (the thickest you can find). Claybar and polish the area afterwards and it should look good as new.
