'Twas somewhere around February of the year 2005 when I finally broke down and bought a WRX; had been wanting one for quite some time.

In the beginning, it was all stock. And intended to stay that way.

Alas, mod fever struck a mere two weeks after purchase, and a Helix high flow cat downpipe was ordered.

Hey, it's just a downpipe, right?

Well, since I would have to take the bugger off to install an uppipe--something I had not been planning on anytime soon, honestly--I talked myself into picking up a Perrin uppipe.

Eventually these were installed and all was well in the land.

Every ricer^H^H^H^H^Hjapanese import car fan needs gauges, right? RIGHT? Autometer Cobalt series boost and oil temp gauges together with an Autometer bezel made an appearance.

Months passed and as my awareness increased I became appalled at my n00b-like decision to do exhaust before engine management in an 04/05. Grateful that the gods of CL/OL switching had graciously left my horizontally opposed little friend in one piece, I immediately ordered the Cobb AccessPort:

This made the little wagon quite the entertaining ride. After taking it down some dirt roads and realizing that AWD means that gravel, dirt and rocks get sprayed _all_ over your car, I chose to invest in a set of Fastline rally flaps to keep the carnage to a minimum. I picked the black ones.

    I also bought John's knob.

All is well until September 2005. I accept a new job and they throw some bonus money my way. I end up with a VF34 and pinks.

At this point I tried a few intercooler options and ended up with a Perrin top mount.

Other than wanting a ProTune I am pretty happy at this point. I did swap wheels for some Motegi FF7s though...

Honestly I'm quite pleased with the current performance. A ProTune and some springs and I might just be done... ;)

No, but I can shoot a few sometime. Being Cobalts they obviously don't match the stock gauges, but I like 'em. :)

Nice writeup. Did you upgrade your fuel pump when you added the turbo and injectors?

You learn something new every day.

I just knew that once you got to the point of needing injectors, a $80 fuel pump is nice just as insurance in case the stock one siezes or anything.

I went with a 34 (the 39 should be a lot cheaper since it's an STi take-off). Brand new you should be able to get the turbo + pinks for around $1000-1100. Shop around a bit for used parts and I bet you could do it for $600-700.
