So I just replaced my 5MT oil with some shiny new extra s. I appear to have overfilled the gearbox by about 1/4" - 3/8" on the dipstick. :unamused:

Is this instant death or should I not worry about it? Just wondering. Thanks!

Honestly, I don't know how bad overfill is, but I did the same thing. Then I got an old liquid hand soap dispenser pump (clean of soap) and used it to pump out the extra tranny oil into a water bottle. Now I am exactly at the fill line.

You can open the drain plug enough to let it drain without having to empty the thing completely.

Dont worry about it. The trans can be 1/2qt over and its fine.

Sounds like you've got 1/4~1/3qt over.

I think you do, just like with engine oil.

I learned to check it on LEVEL ground. The dipstick hole is at the front/side rather than the middle/middle where it should be. If there's any pitch to the car it will read WAY off.
