I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about a company called ultimate racing? They just released a set of intake and exhaust components for the 2008 wrx. I'm really just interested in something like a cat-back right now. Theirs looks decent and goes for about 625. Also it's available with and without a resonator. Without I'm guessing it would sound more subdued but still enhance the exhaust note quite a bit, while maybe adding 1 or 2 horsepower. Also, apparently TopSpeed is one of their dealers.

Just curious if anybody has an opinion. www.ultimate-racing.com. Thanks!

Their rotated mount turbo kits are top notch, I'm not sure on the quality of the rest of their parts. Regarding intakes, if the 08s are anything like other WRXs you'd be just as well to rip the silencer out and leave the stock airbox in albeit with a K&N filter. Exhaust, just get it catless and 3" and you'll be happy.

    +1 for Ultimate Racing.

Their parts are well thought out and fit very well. I have their rotated kit and compared to other cars I have worked on with rotated kits it is much easier to work with.

I got my kit from Topspeed and they got me a great price on it. So +1 for them too.

So far every kit that I have seen installed had fitment issues. That being said everybody elses seems to be the same way so I guess its more about which one fits better than the rest.

    Thats the fucking truth.

I've never been able to install ANY rotated kit w/out issues.

If it were only as easy as the instructions looked...

Both the perrin and UL kits fit about the same.

Otherwise, I dont have any clue as to UL's other products. If they are on the same level as Buschur Racing...then I'd have to say their stuff would most likely be of the higher end of quality.

Perrin's rotated kit SUCKS. The one UR kit I installed was a freaking breeze compared to Zach's Perrin kit.

Which perrin was it? I had a ton of issues with the first one. After that the UL and Perrin were about the same.

    Just how everything fits.

With the last 3~4 perrin FMIC+UL Rotated kits I simply cut a huge hole in the right front apron and it was fine. Otherwise, that area where the UL intake and the Perrin cold air charge pipe goes is the biggest issue still.

Otherwise, they have been pretty well improved since they started coming out...however, its still just small fitment issues all over.

You can not pull the transmission with the wastegate in place on the perrin kit either. The wastegate is also a pain in the ass to get off.

that's why I'm thinking about converting Perrin kit into a dump to atmosphere for easier installation

sorry for going so off topic

Like Bobby said, the intake isn't really worth the money. As for the exhausts, the exhaust I had on my car until last weekend had no resonator... thats how you get the raw sound (afterfires, fireballs, ect.). My newly installed one has a resonator and i heart it. Thats my 2 cents.

The UR kit is one of the best made kits I've seen.
