ALMS Grand Prix of Atlanta

I would be interested in going. Never been to a car race before.

 

Sounds like some fun. I'm down.

 

sweet. I can't wait then. I haven't been to any car races in a while. It should be fun.

 

Should be a good time. This weekend was a blast! We should camp there for this upcoming race.

 

I try to go to as many races as I can so Im down. what day would u guys be going on:beer:

 

Hopefully this year I will go. I always plan on it but never do and end up regretting it later.

 

I may be working that weekend.... if I can get free, I'm game to go. It's either that or wait all the way till September for the Petit LeMans

 

I went last your to the ALMS and if u have not seen them race at night u are missing a hell of an event.

 

Oh I had a blast last year.... got some great video at night of cars going down into turn 12 spitting flames

Yeah, the Petit LeMans is around the middle of Sept (I forget the dates). I'll be taking days off of work to go then :bigthumb:

 

I still do not know for sure I will go but.. I think I am hooked on Road Atlanta! A co-worker asked if anyone wanted to ride in his racecar around Road Atlanta today for testing and I said sure. Well he had transmission problems with the Z3 racecar so he borrowed his dad’s car as a replacement and apologized because it was a streetcar. The ‘replacement’ was a Z8. I was thrilled to just be able to touch it much less be taken for a few hot laps! I am going to attempt to attach a pic.. Never have before so hopefully it will work.

 

The only Subaru I saw out there today was Classic's STi. It appeard several Classic dealers where there playing today.

 

cool man I dont think I've ever seen a Z8 up close.

 

I feel like a kid that just had the best Christmas ever. Even though my brite ass blue wagon seemed invisible park next to this.

Never noticed this thread. I am going Sat and will camp, probably due east of 10A. Come by for a beer. I am planning to bring a large subaru bannar to support the TC car. Hopefully I can get some take offs from the GT cars

 

I'm thinking of coming on Saturday...how late will the race be going on? Javid, did you already get tickets?

 

I haven't seen a schedule yet. I magin they will stop practice and or races at 5 on Sat. I have already purchased a ticket yes, bought the GranPrix / Petit combo ticket and saved bout 30 bucks or something.

A little birdy told me they could get pit passes. I magin that birdy won't make it Sat so he might have lots of extra pit passes for Sat.....

 

What is there a fight or something?

There's a race at Road A. Sat I will get drunk there and Milo will get drunk some where else. If he gets his sorry ass up in time he may head out to the race. If he talks any smack I will beat him down.

 

I think Milo plans on drinking while watching the UFC fight on Saturday. So I was joking and serious...wish I could go to the race, but that would be too many events in one week for the wife...:crying:

Ended up not going yesterday...hope to get there today.

 

Good race.... cars kept running off in Turn 10 there for a while. Got some decent pics and video, and a wicked sunburn to top it all off. Saw a few Scoobies I recognized, but never ran into the folks they belonged to.... oh well, fun times nonetheless

 

:bigthumb: I had an awesome time! Looking forward to the Petit in September, too. Milo, it was good meeting up with you and hanging out. I could have done without that nasty wreck on 85 though...scary close...

You talking about the one on 85SB south of Indian Trail Rd? I got stuck in it around 5:00. Buddy of mine was working it, gonna see if I can find him tomorrow and find out what happened. Didn't look too serious though....

Milo and I were 2-car caravaning back from Road Atlanta, minding our business in the left lane and an Accord (I think) and an A4 got tangled up...I think the Accord came over into the Audi's lane and they hit bumpers. The A4 was able to stop, but the Accord overcorrected and ended crossing the remaing right lanes and hit the guard rail and rolled back into traffic. A bunch of people stopped...we were too far over to the left and past it to pull over. But Milo called 911...I hope everyone was OK.

Yeah, I think that was the one...it was just a little close for comfort...it could have been much worse, I'm sure.
