My bugeye took a hit to the back tonight. I was sitting at a red ight waiting to make a right and bam. I had rolled a little forward and the person behind me thought I was going. He hit me right on the corner of the drivers side but it was hard enough that the fender buckled and my trunk won't latch. The worst part is is that it will probably be another couple of weeks before I can get a tune and enjoy the new turbo. I am also worried about someone driving my car at the repair shop. I can just imagine some young kid taking my car for a spin when its not tuned and taking out my motor. I am not upset about the accident but someone blowing my motor would set me off.
That sucks man! I see where youre coming from about the repair shop. Maybe you could figure out some way to write down the mileage when you drop it off and make sure they dont drive it. I dunno if there is some way you can enforce that unless you come up with some type of legal contract... There is no reason that a body shop would need to drive it anyway.
Couldn't you make it run off the wastgate or something. That would make it not quite as fast or dangerous.
The injector and MAF scaling is pretty close and I have it running wastegate pressure until I can get tuned. Even in its current state it would be easy enough for someone not being careful to break it. The reason I am so worried is that I strongly believe that I lost my 2.0 block to a situation like this. I am sure the guys that installed a tow bar on the front of my car took it for a spin and toasted it. I hate leaving my car anywhere. Thats why I do the work myself. And thanks Milo. I'll be giving him a call first thing tommorow.
Mike...I am really sorry to hear that this happened...I hope that everything can get resolved for you ASAP... Mark
that sucks Mike!! is the damage bad enough that the car can't be tuned before it goes in the shop? Just a thought...
Pull the plugs where it wont start and make them push it everywhere....OR of you had the AP you could put it in valet mood and then it wont go over like 1500 rpms And sucks to hear....I was hoping to hear so good news after tomorrow, now that im in a way playing follow the leader
When I had body work done I put three notes in the car saying not to drive it unless necessary and Absolutely Do Not Put 87 Octane in the tank. The old guy that owns the place was cool but I didn't know about this painter...
Sorry dude just got my car back from somethin simular except I was completly stoped. I trust the guy that runs the place, not so much the help(brand new guy) when he "says you pickin up your lil monstor" of course after that I check the car over with the mgr to be sure. I only left the tiniest bit of gas in and she hates being that low.
When i read the title i thought you got beat in a race by a titan -_-. But that sucks, hope everything works out!
I had my car in for some body work...only was one day but I still set my tripometer (sp?) to zero to make sure it wasn't driven...see the cool thing is that my bugeye, not sure if all years have this, most likey, there's two trips so the one that was showing was my oil change mileage and the other trip was set at zero....so the odds on a sneaky joy rider checking trip "B" I would think be very slim to none...but this was at GC so i really had nothing to worry about anyways...just being over-protective....sure enough...no extra miles...I'll hopefully be seeing Mr Sanders after to holidays for some more work...:naughty:
if ya want a good body shop in the gwinnett area you should look up Marty@ Gwinnett Collision off of Lawrenceville/Suwannee Road and 85. He did work on my STi and im takin my wingless trunk to him when he gets back on the 13th. I believe Mark is there and can give you a good estimate. They are very trustworthy and do al the work for SOG too. Good Luck!
Well, if it's any consolation to you (and this proves that it's a small world), the guy that hit you is a friend of mine. He races in Spec Miata - very cool guy. He feels pretty bad about hitting you. You seem to be taking it pretty well anyway. The reason I'm even here is that I bought my WRX right after my Miata was rear-ended and ended up being totalled by insurance. I feel for ya.
I actually liked the guy. I wasn't mad at all about the accident. It's not like he hit me on purpose. In the end his night was just as bad as mine. Someone told me a spec Miata wrecked this weekend I hope that wasn't him.
Nope. Not him. He's accident-free thus far, which is fairly impressive when you go and watch a race. At the start and into the first turn, you'll see Miata parts a-flyin'! He's thinking about moving up to ITA, since there's a bit more freedom with parts allowed and such.
