Thinking of putting this on my car:

Has anyone used this? I am paranoid that I would accidentally hit something underneath my car and it may open up while driving and drain all my oil out. Is this a real possibility, or am I just overly paranoid?

They're great. A bunch of guys on here run them with no problems. I've had one on my car for about a year, oil changes take the better part of 10 mins now.

My oil changes take ten minutes, but I don't have that. It seems like a waste if the old way works. I don't ever have to worry about stripping a bolt, because I retighten myself. I wear gloves, so I don't care if I get a little oil on my hands. I agree with the comment about hitting something and ripping it off. I would want a skid plate to go along with it. Thats just my .02$.

    never leaked
I used a crush washer installing the first time

I also have a simple hose clamp (squeeze type) to make sure the valve stay s close.

maybe I should have done that instead of using the washer/gasket type thingy it came with....

I did it a little over one year ago. I installed it dry to see where the flip thing would be. Luckily with the supplied gasket it was straight back. Then I took it back out and ran a carbide bit to create a groove to catch all the oil in the pan at the spot that would be the lowest. Then I put black RTV on both sides of the supplied gasket and tightened it down. It works perfectly doesn't drip one drop. The problem using a regular bolt is even without overtightening you will eventually wear out the treads.
