Do I need to stay with the OE 215/45-17 or is there a better size? I am keeping the stock wheels. I am planing on spt pinks and a 22mm rear bar. Any suggestions on a long lasting, smooth, summer spec.
With a 225 tire in the rear you're going to end up rubbing on the fender. Well maybe. The SPT pinks are very stiff springs so they should keep your car from dipping that low and rubbing. And you dont want to do 225 in the front and 215 in the rear as it will eat up your center differential.
As well as making you look like you drive a fwd car (which I might add look absolutely hideous when they have slicks on the front and normal tires on the back.)
No I did not! Did you buy yours used? Mine came with 215's and TIRERACK'S OE specs will tell you the same.
I was not trying to sound rued or anything. Do you like the 225's? What tire do you run and do you like?
How wide is the rim on the 06' wagon? My WRX had an 6.5 inch rim and a 225 would fit but would bulge out like a truck tire... I'd say if the rim is 7" you could do 225 45' no problem...
Is that on a 17x7 or 17x7.5 wheel? (I really want to upgrade the 16" rims and tires on my 2.5i wagon, so I am wondering how much extra width I can get without rubbing)
i'm running 225/40/18's and mine is lowered. i was scrubbing on the fronts but i raised the suspension about 1/2'' and it's fine now.
Just go down to a 40 side wall and run 225, the 40 should go well with th pinks and should not rub! I have 225/45/17 for day to day and 245/40/17 for race season!
