Guys, if you live in Gwinnett OR have participated in an autoX event at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, please sign the appropriate petition at the bottom. -------------------------------------------------------- Dear Solo Members, As most of you are aware, there has been some complaints to the The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners about the events held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Though no actions have been taken at this point, it is my opinion that it is in the best interest of our sport that we begin collecting data to support our cause as soon as possible. With this in mind I have created two petitions, one for Gwinnett County residents and one for non-residents. The residents petition is designed to show support for our events in the county. The non-residents petition is to show how much money is brought into Gwinnett county by non-residents for these events. The non-resident petition needs to be signed by individuals who have actually participated in Gwinnett County Fairgrounds Events (including SCCA National Tours, ProSolos, Divisionals, Points Events, DoubleCross, Schools, TnTs, BMW Club Events, Porsche Club Events, etc). The Resident petition may be supported by any resident of Gwinnett County, Georgia. Gwinnett County participants and residents: http://www.petitiononline.com/gcautox/petition.html Participants in Gwinnett County Events who do NOT live in Gwinnett County: http://www.petitiononline.com/gcautox2/petition.html Please share this opportunity to be heard with fellow participants as well as members of the community. Thank you, Heyward Wagner
Done, I hope we don't lose this. Most Auto X's have been in Gwinnett this year. Did they lose the lot at Turner Field?
There are 8 events at turner field this year, including the C of C and the last points event, as opposed to the 6 at Gwinnett (including test and tune events). Turner field hasn't been lost, but it would be a shame to have it be the only available venue. They did the annual event at AMS, but the rental costs are too high to do more than one event per year. -- Brian
I signed it just now...I was just a ride along with Chris Nelson and Joel Fehrman, nonetheless, this should not be closed down for any reason. I am # 129... Mark
thanks for your support guys... whoever has not signed yet, please go ahead and support the local SCCA
Heh. Since GCFG is a lot closer to me than the Ted, I thought we had an awful lot of them at the Ted this year... To answer your question, no, ARSCCA had events at Turner Field this year and there will be two more; Points 10 and our Champion of Champions event (which is open to anyone even if it is where we crown the king of the hill for the year), and we also did one down at Atlanta Motor Speedway this year. However, we're interested in keeping any quality site we can get-- it's tough enough to put together a schedule as it is, since we're only renting out parking lots instead of entire venues we're pretty low on most places' priority list, so having more than one site is a huge benefit to us. Plus, in an area the size of Metro Atlanta, having more than one site helps get us closer to the participants for at least a few of our events. Thanks for signing the petition, folks. We appreciate it. -J.D. Forinash ARSCCA Solo Novice Chief
Signed. Haven't heard of any complaints before. Not sure why either. Hate to see it go away. The fairgrounds a less than 2 minutes from my house.
