So there I was driving to work on a back road doing about 40 when this bird comes from the right and banks and starts flying in the direction that I am going in front of me. Well I was going slightly faster then he could fly and then next thing I know he was in the hood scoop. I stop he gets out and just flys off... No damage to the car or bird.
what kind of bird? i'd assume he would have become one with the intercooler if it was an 04-05 STi :rofl:
I have seen the pictures of NASIOC of the robin gettting fried to the intercooler. Good thing you noticed and stopped. I can't imagine feathers being a good heat exchanger.

Some finchy small thing. The 9-2X hood scoop is narrow and wide. I mean he was almost matching my speed where I was probably going 1-2 mph faster and the timing was just right when he banked in front of me. Usually birds bank in front of the bumper and then peel off. Honestly it startled me where I just slammed on the breaks and he popped out.
True story....I was driving to work one morning and I was gunning the car enjoying the meth (this was when I first got the meth map) and there were some quail on the side of the road. At that time I had swapped trunks with Zach (white GT30R Sti) for a week to see how I liked the STi wing. Well one of the quail flew up in front of me and my scoop clipped him. Then he hit my windshield in the corner. Then I heard a twangggggggg. Thought nothing of it and just hoped the bird was okay because he really didn't hit the scoop and windshield but sorta clobbered and flapped all over it. I honestly thought he was okay. Got to work and one of the women there screamed. I looked and the quail met his untimely demise thanks to the STi wing.....it clipped him and half of him was hanging from it. It was disgusting and I cleaned it off. Didn't have my camera so no pics. That night the STi wing back to the original owner.
reminds of that video I saw where the young guy sucks the girl in the bikini into his hood scoop. I am sure ya'll have seen it.Too bad you didnt have a camera going that would have been good for tv. americas funniest videos.
When I was getting my private pilots license I had a prop strike on a Cessna 152 (prop directly in front of the windshield). Bird guts alllll over the place. I could hardly see enough to land. Pretty lucky I guess...
