The accumulating points at the end of the season will determine the most well rounded club. A club's participation in Club Wars is by invitation only. Clubs currently participating are: GA3S Redline Auto Club S2Katlanta SELOC WRXatlanta Come out, have fun and help drive your club to victory. Club Wars: Round 1 Type of Event: Autocross Classes: CWS (Club Wars Street Tires) and CWR (Club Wars Race Tires) Location: Turner Field Date: Sunday, April 22nd 2007 Prizes: Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class. A constructors trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring club. The awards ceremony will be held at Alan Cox Automotive on Saturday, April 28th. Time TBA. Registration: www.soloatlanta.com. The cost for this event is $30 for SCCA members and $40 for others. Club Wars participants may either register for a specific Club Wars Class or for their normal SCCA Solo Class. All Club Wars participants must meet the requirements for entry into an ARSCCA event, including pre-registration and prepayment. Details can be found in the announcement forum of the Soloatlanta.com website. Club Wars Classes Within the registration page, Club Wars drivers need to register for either CWR (Club Wars Race Tire) or CWS (Club Wars Street Tires). Drivers must display their number and class, either CWR or CWS, on each side of the car. For scoring purposes 'WRXatlanta' must be listed as your sponsor for the event. Sponsor information can be edited in the garage section of the registration page on DLBracing.com. Both Club Wars classes will run in the morning heats, drivers need to check in to the event and have their cars tech inspected prior to running. Drivers should plan to be at the event, with cars ready for inspection prior to 8:00AM. Club Wars Drivers in SCCA Classes Club Wars Drivers who want to run in their normal SCCA Classes need to add either CWR or CWS to their Car information (CWR if you are on Race tires, CWS if you are in Street tires). For scoring purposes 'WRXatlanta' must be listed as your sponsor for the event. Sponsor information can be edited in the garage section of the registration page on DLBracing.com Here's the morning schedule: 8:00 - Gates Open, Morning Check-In Opens, Tech Opens 8:30 - Course Open for walking. Morning Check-In Closes 8:45 - Tech Closes 9:00 - Course Closed 9:15 - Workers must be at their station 9:30 - First car off This is the schedule you need to follow if you register for either CWS or CRW class. Plan to get there around 7.45 and get the car emptied out. Everything that's not bolted down must be taken out of the car. This includes floor mats and subwoofer boxes that are just sitting in the trunk. When you register for a class, you will be required to choose a number. Your class and number must be displayed on both sides of the car. This doesn't have to be anything fancy. Most people make numbers using masking tape. Some people bring magnets. The morning session will have 2 heats. One class will run in one heat, and the other class will run in the other heat. You are required to work the course during your non-running heat. You will most likely be assigned a corner and you need to watch for cones being hit, and replace them if necessary. Participants and their guest are to be mindful at all times that this is a sanctioned event put on by the Atlanta Region, SCCA. All are expected to behave in a respectful manner at all times, particularly when arriving at and leaving from the event. Each entrant is required to fulfill a work assignment during the heat they are not running. Failure to fulfill a work assignment or behavior that reflects poorly on ARSCCA will result in disqualification. Registration closes at 11.59pm on Friday, April 20th. If you have not pre-registered, you will not be able to register at the event. Team Solo is aware that there will be a large number of newcomers at this event so they are taking the necessary steps to ease everyone through the formalities. Please arrive at the event before 8am and look for the Novice group. They should have a tent or signs that will help you find them. They will walk you through all the formalities (Check in, tech inspection, work requirements, course walk, etc.). I strongly recommend you join this group, especially if it is your first time at an autocross event. I shall be joining to offer additional support. They are pretty strict on closing check in and tech inspections at the posted times so be there early ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the list of current WRXatlanta warriors. Just to clarify, this competition will not take place at every autoX event. This will probably be the only autoX in the club wars. We are planning on doing a track event, a car show and maybe drag strip. This will allow all round comparison.
If it's in the Blue Lot you can expect me to be there. If it's in the Green, I'm out. I'm tired of slamming my car into potholes and bricks...
Moca / Redline MOCA has only a few members that Auto Cross and they are also members of REDLINE AUTO CLUB. MOCA only has 3 that Auto Cross and they will run under Redline Auto Clubs Name. These 3 Guys have been members of Redline for 2 years. J Man Redline Auto Club
You will most likely need to contact Team Solo; here's the thread for challenge information: http://soloatlanta.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2698&hl=
we already won then... :wiggle: but some S2000s are equipped with some serious Moton coilvers throw in a good driver... who knows
LOL, they better be good because we are coming with 500whp and a I don't lose attitude. Wait till the road course event, lol
Matt is no longer running his s2k, he has a built 2nd gen CRX for STS2 that will most likely trophy at nationals. Matt's s2k was the only one I remember running motons in atlanta region.
haha, for AutoX, your car will be put in X-prepared with your mods [chassis bracing and turbo swap], which has a horrible PAX. IE, in order to get the same indexed time in your car, you would have to be 2.5 seconds faster on a 60 second course, as compared to a A-stock STi or S2000. I bet you my wife can beat you in her A-stock STi, based on RAW time. -- Brian
At the Club Wars autoX event, scores will be based on raw times. Street tires compete with street tires. Race tires compete with race tires. There was a consensus on this among the event planners.
I'm not running in the event, but if what you guys want to do that's fine. I don't see the fairness of a high-powered STi going up against a low powered civic, that's why there is the PAX index.
count me in too. I'm excited for this (and i kinda maybe a little hope for some rain at that event like the last one. Made things exciting).
This was decided upon by the group of us involved in planning the event (WRXatlanta, Alan Cox automotive and S2Katlanta). And it was done because of multiple reasons. Mainly, we wanted to have a very simple classing structure (no more than two classes). And we all agreed that the biggest difference comes in the form of tires. A big turbo STi will be at a disadvantage compared to a stock turbo tuned STi (with otherwise identical mods) due to the additional lag. Hence bigger power can take you down in autoX performance. Also Brian's low power honda has no problem spanking around a lot of cars making much more power . I think we can all agree that raw power doesn't make as much difference as a nice handling setup and driver's skill. Also the event is Club Wars. Hence we are comparing clubs. If a club has cars that are better setup for a particular event, then they should have the advantage in that event. We will have a variety of events this year. This will probably be the only autoX.
Actually I'm not posative Ill be able to make it, Scott and I may be flying out to Miller that weekend to pre drive the track for One Lap. Matt
Why not sign up for the competition anyway? You will score points if you do well but you won't hurt the club's performance otherwise Good luck with that. Let me know if that changes.
Take me back off the list for the autox, THE SIEGEL and I are going to drive up to Autobahn "one lap style" and do a track day. Matt
oh well, hope to see you guys out there some other time. Mere and I are signed up for CWR, and are running for S2kAtlanta for this event Will try to even the numbers up a bit, since their club is low in participation. -- Brian
Oh noes!!! There go two of our finest This should even up the numbers pretty nicely though. Its going to be a fun event :bigthumb:
ha ha, my tires may say otherwise. I may be tuned though. Also, found the wheels I want: One set $300/ wheel, other set $425/ wheel. Gotta make 'em last!
Hope to see you out there It should be fun, hopefully bringing more people out than from the previous events. -- Brian
Yeah, very correct. Rota's are actually the closer option........but I have my eyes set on some specific ones, rota actually makes a replica!
