Has anyone else experienced this or know of any possible causes ? I've only owned the car a few months and they always blinked, then one night I came out after eating dinner out on the town, and they didn't blink any more.

Plus I saw this security light blinking on the guage cluster that I hadn't noticed before....

any help would be appreciated. It's an 04 STi

    Thanks,
    Rut

I believe that it means your alarm became disabled. I forget how exactly it happens, but it's happened to me a few times. I don't remember exactly how to reset it, I think it is something like while leaving the door open, hold down the lock button on your remote entry for 3 seconds (or maybe with the door closed). Or I could be completely wrong on either of those. Your manual should tell you how though...or someone else on here.

yeah i think thats what it means, but i forget how to reset it. there should be an affiliate booklet in your owners manual pouch on the alarm.

    Interesting . . .

I just noticed that my taillights didnt light up when I unlocked my car earlier tonight. Then again I didnt think I had the OEM security system, despite the little blinking security light in the dash.

My lights blink, but my Chirp doesn't work. It stopped working about 3 months after I got the car. There was a thread about it on Nasioc, with a list of other people expereincing the same issue. The list was up to about 250 people, which means it is a pretty major issue.

Nothing was ever done about it. I asked SS at SOG about it, but he didn't know how to fix it either.

I think the factory installed alarms on Subarus are just a complete POS.

the blinking security light in the dash means its in valet mode I think. I had the problem as well when my remote was up against my wallet and entered the "arm valet mode" code - which to this day I dont know what that code is. heh.
Hold down the unlock button for 3 seconds with the door open, and it should be disabled.

Turn your alarm remove over and read the instructions on the back. If that doesnt help, let us know!

Well I do that all the time, so I didn't think to add it.

Wow, I never even knew that was on the back of the remote. I always assumed it was a legal disclaimer.

Yeah... that's me. I finally got my STi I was dreaming about and boy was it worth it.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. Had I only realized the lights had quit blinking because of something I had done I'm sure it wouldn't have taken me so long to realize it.

Let's do it Trey... I'm trying to plan a dinner with Joe soon, so maybe come join us.. I still need some advice on what to do with this beast. Hope you and the baby are fantastic!

^^ here's a personal opinion on what to do. :)

Brakes (SS lines, pads) -> Suspensions (Springs, sways, etc....) -> Power (EM, turbo-back, bigger turbo)

I lurk the IL site, I registered when I had my Integra, but have long forgotten my uid/pwd there :(
