showed up this morning for the novice class...saw a white STi that had some top speed stickers on it, a white WRX, and a Legacy GT. only hung around for 20 min's.
See ya'll tomorrow. Don't laugh, GS 430, 3750 lbs when I weighed at Reynolds. I have suspension mods but not complete yet... Glad to hang out with yall again!
Hey Shane, nice meeting you! At the end of the day, i finally realized why that yellow CRX looked familiar... Brian is like a driving god.
Man, sorry about this guys but I just got home so I will not make this tomorrow morning unless they take late arrivals...I wonder if someone can take my spot.
That was actually Matt Galgola's STS2 CRX, we didn't have ours out there. That crx is one of the best prepped for the class. I'm sure Brian will take credit for being a driving god though .
You can always come and see if you can drive in the afternoon session, you should get there around 11am if you want to drive in the afternoon (starts roughly around 12:30 to about 4pm)
I had a blast today. And I was amazed at how many people made it out to represent. I love that green lot. Its so easy to slide the car around
i had an awsome time this morning. i am hooked, now i just need some suspension mods and sticky tires. auto-x is awsome. thanks for everyones help and advice, cant wait for the next event.
nice man i had a blast...kinda wish i had taken one more second off my time but it was still great. It was great to see so many subis out there today,
I had a blast, felt great to be out there and actually drive without much pain Considering the car was a completely different setup from last season and this was my first event this one, I was quite pleased with my times. Now I need to actually get the car aligned  Oh, and did anyone snag any pics?
Yup, tons o' subies representing. I had a great time too. Next time I hope to have some sticky "street" tires to run. Muwahahaha.
Good to see all of you out there! It was quite a fun day. I will post the preliminary results once they are available. -- Brian
Here are the initial Club Wars results, created from the pre-preliminary results posted on the Soloatlanta forum. You will notice that some entries are missing information. If you have any information for these entries, or if you find any mistakes, drop me a PM. link to results on SoloAtlanta forum: http://soloatlanta.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2759&hl= -- Brian
Yes....and it will definatly make it to the dealer one more time so I can rebuild the engine. lol I did fill the catch can as expected...and I also made the PS pump leak and puke worse. However, nothing reached the ground until the car sat for 20 mins here at home. Time for some JE pistons(as they are the only ppl who spec pistons for the EA82), an EJ power steering pump (WRX to be exact) and more adjustments to the suspension. Looks like I was fastest in CWR for WRXATL...however, those damned S2000's beat us. How is the winner determined?
I may be out of the loop a little since I was having a kick ass time in the mountains today...but why are WRXatlanta people representing S2Katlanta!? :wtc:
We are members of both clubs, as I used to own an s2000, and still go to their weekly dinner meets once and a while. We figured we would mix it up a little, since my crx is closer to belonging to the s2000 club since it is a Honda. Mere just decided to run with them, as WRXatlanta had a lot more members signed up. The final number seems to be 11 s2katl vs 17 wrxatl members. There will be an awards ceremony thing on April 28th at Alan Cox Automotive, from 6-8pm. -- Brian
Your car looked damn fast out there! It would be fun to see how it would do on a set of wide race tires -- Brian
Yes i understand your connection with an s2000 and you still driving a honda. Just looks like we gave up some serious place holders to the other guys. But it's all in good fun I'm sure.
Thanks for posting early results up! I appreciate the props (Alex too). I'm a competitive person so I usually only think about the mistakes, not being fastest, making mistakes, what the car was lacking, making mistakes, etc. lol So it's good hear others think I did well. I think Milo and myself should attend the next drivers/novice training day so well be ready for a 1/2 finish! Brian, I'm afraid wide race tires would finally show some weaknesses in the STi's stock suspension. Anyone know the best tires I can get and stay in CWS?
Azeni's are a common favorite. Good race everyone. It turned out to be a nice day and a great course.
For street tires, Falken RT-615 tires work really good for AutoX, and are what most of the top street tire guys use in our region, and are available in a bunch of sizes. They are really sticky and decently cheap for street tires. They like to stay cool though, so you will want to bring a water sprayer for hot days, and spray them between runs to keep them cool, especially if you are pushing them hard on a heavy car like the STi. (the STS civic guys were spraying their fronts between runs yesterday) If you are looking for something that will work good for track days too, you will want something more resistant to heat, like the more expensive Yokohama Neova AD07. I had the neovas on my evo, and they really kicked ass, but cost a lot more than the RT-615s. Another new tire this season is the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R, which seems like it will be the next top street tire. It is more resistant to heat, and isn't too bad in pricing if you consider the $100 rebate that they just started offering to various club members on their website: http://www.potenza.com I want to get a set of them for my crx, once the 15" size is released. For tire size, 245/40 or 245/45 seems to work good on the stock 05 bbs wheel. I had 255/40-17 neovas on a 17x9 wheel on my evo, and it was kickass. The 5zigen 17x9 +43 wheels seem to work perfectly on the 05+ STi if you are looking for a wider wheel. I have seen a few STU guys running these with 245/40-17 Neovas. -- Brian
Thanks for the pre-preliminary results Brian. If anyone who participated in the event does not have their name showing, please let us know ASAP.
NP. The official event results will be available Friday after they have been audited by TeamSolo. Once I receive them, I will generate the official results for the Club Wars. If anyone sees errors in the results/listings/classing/organization/etc, let me know, and I will look into it. -- Brian
How can we have an awards banquet so soon, when we haven't finished all the events in the competition? or am I missing something?
There will be an awards banquet after each event to honor the top positions in each class with trophies. There will also be a trophy for the club that scores the most points at each event. Before the event, Jonathan and I had agreed on a points structure. I am waiting on Joe (S2K) to agree/disagree with it. When we get it finalized, we'll post the club rankings . There will also be a seasonal championship that will incorporate points collected over the season.
Tips good enough to sticky! (or print out at least) I'll get a set of the 615's most likely. I think I'll go wide and sticky for SM2 after Club Wars is over.
How can you run in SM2? I thought that was just for two door cars. I think you just need to run in SM, I could be wrong though. Will there be an announcement of people who are getting trophies before the banquet?
Thanks for posting the times! Looks like everyone did a good job. Joey, nice times man!! Question, does Jay own a EVO and an S2k or was he just their "ringer"?
Jay has been driving an s2000 for local events for the last 2 seasons. It is Jim Hendrickson's car, and they co-drive it. His personal daily driver is the evo, and he autoX'd it for the first time this weekend. He bought it a month and a half ago. It is fully stock, and understeered a whole bunch. Do you have the rest of the info for Joey? Points-wise, WRXatlanta won this event Good job to all that showed up. Pre-preliminary points totals: WRXatlanta 35 s2k 30 redline 4 seloc 4 GA3S 0 Once I receive the final audited results, I will generate the official results with the AXware software. I had a great time at the event. It was a fun event. I got beaten by my co-driver by 0.043 seconds. I liked the course layout. -- Brian
WooHoo congrats to all those that went. I'm really looking foward to the Road Course event. We have some pretty talented drivers on this board I'm sure that we will do very well. Matt
These points have been calculated without any club info for Joey Cacioppo. Anyone know what club he represented?
