looks like Acura RDX. I'm also debating between RDX and is250... two diff vehicles, but similar price range... if it is RDX, tell us more about it!!!
Ding...Ding..Ding...we have a winna! The "vehicle" is out an about right now, the big "reveal" will be tonight! Someone on here was close though...I know you are all very excited...
Yeah it's a CX-7. I can tell by those little lights or reflectors at the bottom. Great choice for a crossover. All it needs is wider tires and some huge swaybars! JK...
yeah cx-7 will we see it at andretti? it needs an inspection...to see if we can put a bigger turbo on it...:naughty:
I've got a buddy with the MazdaSpeed6 and he says that Cobb is "supposed" to be releasing an AP for it sometime around May. I also know there are turbo upgrade kits for the MS6, so I would expect that those would be fairly flexible for installation into a CX7.
Does it really need a bigger turbo though. ^^^ I mean we're breaking new ground with this direct injected thing. EM alone might do more than you think. Obviously a bigger turbo can't hurt. But they'll need some time to crack that ECU for it.
well yeah i was somewhat joking...but yes mods will need to be added, i don't know of any car that is perfect stock.
Yep, CX-7. We wanted something that we could use as a "family truckster." My wife hates wagons and doesn't really like SUVs. I bought a car from Jim Ellis Mazda a few years ago and they keep sending me "preferred customer" letters. Anyways, long story short, she went after work on Monday thinking she wouldn't like it and ended up coming home with a nice CX-7 Sport in Galaxy Gray. She did a great job negotiating and ended up $1500 under sticker as an "out the door" price. Its the base package, but I am keeping my eye out for a Nav/DVD Double Din that has the functionality we are looking for at a price we want to pay. It is surprisingly peppy too. I'll post some pics of the car and engine when she gets home...
Which Jim Ellis? I know the Marietta one is discounting things pretty heavily as they are getting a huge allocation this week. I get the letters too.
Very nice ride.. Just had to check out the mazda site and found... http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=modelsCX7TrickedOut&vehicleCode=CX7
It was the one in Marietta. They are actually really nice to deal with, at least the three times we bought from them...
Cool, I was there Monday and saw a Galaxy Gray CX-7 being sold (this was around 7:30pm). I bought my 05 RX8 there and then got my now ex-gf to buy a Mazda 3 there. I was looking at RX8s again when I was there.
It was probably my wife! I love the way the RX-8's drive and look, but the gas mileage and the lack of head room made the 8 a no go...
If she was in a Mazda 6 then it was. Yeah the milage is horrid on the RX8(18mpg on my 05) but man....is it fun to drive. Head room is tight on me but i don't go to autox or track days so I don't have to worry about helmet clearance.
Yep, she traded in the 6 (worst front seats evaR!!! Hard as freaking rocks!) for the CX-7. Did she look stressed? She was freaking out...
Not really. I was pacing around waiting on the salesman I had spoke too to finish up a deal. I almost offered to help her and her salesman to transfer stuff. I was probably more stressed than she was. I was getting ready to drive an RX8 for the first time in a year. Lets just say they made a tempting offer to me.
The D3 doesn't let you use nav and play movies at the same time. There is a Kenwood that has a small hard drive which can store the maps, that way you can do both at the same time.
Sorry, I can't usually make it out to the stuff on the "west side" during the week. Here are a few pics. No pics of the turbo though because the plastic cover is a bit of a pain to remove...
Ya know, for the price we paid, I am amazed at how nice the CX-7 is. It also makes me wonder why they can't build a no frills sports car for around 20k. Put this engine in something lighter with RWD and 20K and I am on it...
Well...you know...they had a concept to that effect about 2 years ago. It was called the Kabura. The press and sports car nuts have asked for it to be built. Mazda is "investigating the possibility of production". That was said almost 1.5 years ago now. it was planned to be 2500-2600lbs, RWD and have at least 190 hp. Also the price range was about $20k. Only time will tell.
Good deal man! I just bought my g/f a Mazda in Gainesville. For the money I paid for it... I couldn't be happier. Just looking at the quality and features, you'd think it was about 23-25k.
So nothing new yet? I so want one of those if I ever get married and have 1.5 kids or something. Lol. I'd absolutely have to beef up the sway bars and rubber though. Course, I can't blame you for letting the OE rubber wear out if you want to. My RE92's are still brand new though in case I ever want to trade in. I didn't think it had RE92's !! Ha ha....
It doesn't actually have re-92's for the stock rubber, though the tread pattern is similar. I don't think my wife wants me touching here car unless I am washing it or driving it. It is really a nice car to drive considering. It compares very favorably to my folks' FX-35.
I didn't think it had 92's! Lol I can see why you wouldn't mod it much though because you're trying for a track car. I know if I had one it would be for comfortable kid deliver and grocery getting.
