I will be getting a WRX here in the near future, and trying to figure out which is the best one to go with. I now that the 02-03 bug eyes have the weakest tranmission, and i think alot of people have told me the ones that have real strong transmissions is the 04-05, and i was planning on going with an 05. I dont like the 06 and up body style, and also they are a bit out of a my price range, so i was curious as to which of the bug eyes or 04-05 is the best to go with!

    Thanks

Later model 05 would be your best bet. Then again, the 06 comes with a 2.5 liter motor versus 2.0 for 05 and earlier.

Buy my 04 in a month or so. Best of all the worlds...STi blue carpet, more supportive 02-03 seats, 06-07 blinging tail lights! Seriously though, the 05 interior is slightly upgraded and just looks a little nicer all around, but not enough for me to pay a huge premium for one. If you can find a good version of either the 04 or 05 take the best deal, regardless of MY...

Well I was going to say that the mechanical differences between the 02-03 and 04-05 were small enough not to really worry about (60k+ miles of high school and college age driving and not one problem with the tranny on my 03), but since you like the way the 05 look better anyways, just go with that :)

the 05 has a tighter steering rack, better interior, and different painted headlights. about the same as 04's otherwise i think. that 2.5 motor in the 06's is mean though!

05's also come with painted side skirts and a slightly different design for the wheels.

I have no choice but to say that the bugeyes are the coolest.

Carmax in Norcross! So i can get a good deal on any car throughout the nation gives me a lot larger of a selection!

Also even though the 04-05 are the same i jsut figured a 05 lower miles, newer, and hopefully still under warrenty!

Just remember to look for tell tale signs that the car has been heavily modded and possible abused then put back to stock and traded.

LOL trust me i can tell real well, i work for the inventory department at the dealerhip!!!! So i see everything that comes through ahs to pass by me first!!!! If a car is modified we will not sale it!!!1 It actually cost to much money to return to stock! SO any car that ever gets to our front lot, something you can see on the website is something that has never been modded!

^^I have to disagree, I know of a few that have. Not saying you cannot tell but it has been done.

+1 on the disagreement... trust me they are returning them to stock before your dealership ever sees them. cost= a couple days, a couple friends and some beer ;)

05 has a slightly better build quality (this is from a certain subaru master tech, not me), fewer dash rattles instances, little stuff like that.

good luck with your search and welcome to the boards :)

thanks and yes, some modded cars do make it to the lot, but thats if its not hard and less cost to return to stock! hell we got one hte other day a 03 modded bugeye with 54k on it, that had hks carbon tip exhuast, downpipe greddy bov, fmic, turbo timer, some other timers, intake!!! and we sold it wholesale for 5900!

yes it has been done, but still though for alot of mods you have to pay a tech the time to take it off and put it back on, plus buying the parts!

Damn, was there something wrong with it (other than a few useless mods :))?
