5spd, 35k miles on the clock, red with full black leather interior. it has a moonroof. SPT intake and catback
he says salvage as hood, front bumper, and grille were replaced and that was it... dont know why that would make it salvage tho seems too little dmg

Honestly, aslong as that thing was put back to oem spec, then I don't see any problems with it.

the thing i am most curious about is the price. I know it's harder of course to sell the car but is that actual price good? His reserve was 13,500 but wasnt met so he did the second chance offer for 12,500 and I know I could pick it up for 12 if i had the cash

i may be wrong but i dont think you can register a car that has a salvage title. i think you have to go through some process to get the salvage part lifted from the title. dont forget most salvaged cars where totaled out by an insurance company at one time.

it is so cheap because it has a salvage title which technically means it was 'totaled' by the insurance company. I cannot understand how a hood, bumper and grille could total the car lol. If the car checked out as 100% checked by a subaru place then besides resale value I wouldn't have an issue with it

and yes you have to go through some stuff to get it registered.. that would be the only thing holding me back... There is one on legacyGT I know the guy will let go with for 14k or so... had a good bit of recall work done to it and was in a small accident but everything fixed

  14. Yeah how much underneath was tweaked. did they have to straighten anything like subframe, core support,etc..? also I have heard that it is involved to get a real title for a salvage titled car...Do more research if you can

I wouldn't touch a "salvaged" car w/ a 10ft pole until I knew why it was totaled and how well the fixes were done. Carfax a and dealer inspection are good places to start.

For 1 car I bought, I was able to go to the dealership it was originally purchased @ and serviced and was able to get all the service history.

    Sounds like a scam...

I doubt the car pictured is the actual car.

with a hit like that I bet the airbags went off, which also broke the windsheild. It could be fine. Take it to a bodyshop and have them see if the frame is straight.

Is the car here or in California?

its in Cali, but i wouldnt mind taking a plane out and just shipping it back and flying back if all checked out... ill more than likely get something closer but it will still involve driving a good bit

They don't total a car that new over a hood, bumper and fender. That is BS. I am sure that car has been on a frame machine. If you want a car you are going to keep a long time and don't care about resale, it is a good deal. If you ever want to sell it, you are going to have a tough time.
You also usually can't finance a salvaged car so that makes reselling even tougher.
