Anybody know what size torx bit I need to flush the fluid on my tranny? Its not a hex bit like it used to be

How could you be at your time to change the fluid already? Normally its like 60k.

I also wrote a DIY about how to change it.

Don't consider a car an investment, you will never get a return and the car always depreciates no matter how many times you change the fluids.

    I've done mine every 25-30k.

I was referencing the service manual, but no harm in doing it more frequently except for the $ of tranny fluid.

Subaru service manual recommeneded mainatences are already conservative, because they make money off of having you come in to service your car.

So if 30k is roughly half of 60k, then do you change your engine oil every 1500 miles which is half of the recommended 3000?

    T70
i would change it every 25k-30k miles
its more a hassle than the cost. If you treasure your investment you would do what it takes to keep it healthy

i change my fluids out every 30k. even though your car may depreciate the longer you have it the more personal value is put into it. so if changing the fluids will keep it around longer than why not spen a little extra money to keep it around longer. "preventative maintenace"

OK, finding this T70 sized bit is very difficult, I have tried:

    HomeDepot
    Lowe's
    PepBoys
    Napa
    NorthernTool
    Grainger

Does anyone here have one and if so, where did you get it?

I used a t67. It will work fine, just be careful since it is a tad bit smaller than the actual size needed. The T67 is the only one I could find that was close and it worked great

    Update:

I bought a set of torx bits online from northern tool for about $30; it has sizes up to T70.

I found a small pile of metal filings on the magnetic plug, cleaned that off and put it back,

Then I proceeded to overfill my tranny, dumb!

So I cleaned out a hand soap dispenser pump and pumped some out until I was exactly at the full mark.

I used pennzoil synchromesh and it feels just like it did before, which is good because I have never had any shifting problems.

I also used the rest of my synchromesh in the rear diff.

One question though: what is the actual weight of pennzoil's synchromesh? It does not say anywhere on the bottle.
