Okay, so about 1 a.m this morning me and my friend embarked on a spontaneous roadtrip to Wilmington, NC. My mission: to retrieve a Catted Helix Downpipe and Cobb V1 AP from a fellow nasioc user. You guys know how much I've been pestering about a downpipe and getting to stage 2, well now I've finally found the final parts I need!

We arrived in Wilmington around 9 a.m, met up with the guy and installed the stage 1 map and economy maps to my car. Then after a quick cruise around W-town, we embarked back around 11. On the beautiful coastal Highway I reminded myself to watch my speed and managed to keep it between 70-80. On the opposite side of the highway a Staty passes in the opposite direction and I think nothing of it because I am going under 80. Well 2 minutes later I look in my rearview to see him pulling me over and once I am pulled over an older police officer (probably the oldest I've ever seen outside of a security position) walks up peering in my car through the un-tinted windows (probably thinking that the Down pipe in my trunk space was an explosive launcher of some kind) and asks for my registration, saying in a very southern accent "Where are you trying to go in such a hurry?" I tell him "Atlanta" and he keeps asking me the same thing... "Where?" "Atlanta" "Where?" "Atlanta" "Where?" "GEORGIA!"

After taking my license for what seemed to be forever, and watching many cars pass by me at 70+ he explains to me how I can pay for my ticket. I ask how fast he clocked me and he says 73. The speed limit supposedly is 55 on that divided highway although for about 20 miles I didn't see one speed limit sign. The officer was "nice" enough to knock it down to a 70 in a 55 so I wouldn't have to appear in court, but I think its because he didn't really clock me considering he was traveling another direction than me.

Other than the ticket and the 7 hr drive I'm glad I made the trip considering I found the helix catted DP and AP for a good price! Oh yea, the tickets gonna set me back $140.

Cops are always out in force on holiday periods. I just got back from Miami a few minutes ago and the cops were everywhere in between. I'd set cruise control for 7mph over for 85% of the drive so no tickets for me. Sorry about yours though!

yea I drove because others beat me to the punch on dibs so I told the guy I'm willing to pick up. I didn't think I was speeding! I could have sworn the speed limit was 70. But yea, I can't wait until stage II. Whens the next install day!?!

I wouldnt blame that on the cop as much as on a shitty DOT that doesnt put up speed limit signs. Same thing happened to me twice in FL but like you I talked both down to 14 over so that I just had to pay the ticket and get no points.

yea i drove down to alabama to buy some fireworks. Must have seen at least 20 cops on the way there and back. at least 7-8 people pulled over too.

Apparently most people don't realize that cops can clock you when they're moving... I didn't know either until it happened to me too. I think it's becoming more common knowledge now though.

EDIT: off topic but im headed over to wilmington next week too :)

    !

i'm from wilmington and i can tell you from experience, don't speed on nc's coast, that is where they send state troopers and judges to die, they can get away with murder out there, (im assuming you got the ticket somewhere between shallote and N. myrtle beach on hwy 17. that's where they get everybody.) it sucks but be glad he didn't "find" anything in your car, those cops are known to plant stuff in out of state cars especially.

oh as far as the speed limit goes, in nc it's 55 unless otherwise posted, but then again how could you have known that.
