Fisher-Price Toys with Lead Paint Hazard Recall http://www.service.mattel.com/us/recall/default.asp?recall_id=52430 As of late "MADE IN CHINA" is starting to read more and more as a warning label. Recently China has provided us: poisoned dog food funky seafood antifreeze toothpaste
I just did a Google news search, and it looks like 450,000 Chinese tires were recalled last June. http://cbs4.com/local/local_story_214122757.html Here's a counterpoint article from AsiaTimes: http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China_Business/IH04Cb01.html
counter fitting is so bad over there. i just saw this big thing on 60 minutes on that. i know the prescription drug makers over here are using rfi chips under the label to insure a real product made by them.
http://www.service.mattel.com/us/recall/39054_IVR.asp?prod= heres a listing of all recalled products.
Nuts, we have 7 of the toys on the list, and my son played with 4 of them today...... I smell lawsuit.
That's horrible. I wonder how a factory could accidentally use lead based paint for children's toys. They probably damn well what they were doing.
I think something like 13 chinese babies died from eating baby formula that had zero nutrition. Also, wasn't it in China they were busted for putting cardboard in hamburger buns?
Ah at least China "removed" the former head of their national food and drug agency. By "removed" I mean "executed". http://www.torontodailynews.com/index.php/BusinessNews/2007071007china-executes This article also mentions the infant deaths of Chinese babies who were fed formula with no nutrition, shrimp laced with pesticides, and eggs being injected with cancer causing red dye.
so far for china its 1 star crash rating cars recall on tires that explode recall on poisonous toothpaste - i think it was antifreeze in it? fake disneyland amusement parks owned by the chinese government i'm starting to feel ashamed to be chinese =P
i really hope your joking!?! if your not joking the news said today you should get your kid a lead test now. its a blood test. they said on the news you should have one done every six months anyways. there where also tommy the train and some fake jewelry thats for kids thats been recalled by other manufactures for traces of lead in the products. also this recall is only for products bought after may 1st of this year.
From the WSJ: "Chinese Toy-Factory Owner Commits Suicide Amid Recall" http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118699838250495806.html?mod=googlenews_wsj He probably took matters into his own hands before the government would likely execute him.
On the news this morning, Mattel announces they're doing ANOTHER toy recall for lead paint... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293180,00.html
On WSB radio they also mentioned Mattel toys from China being recalled due to magnets potentially falling off. The concern is is that if two magnets are swallowed that they may bind together in the digestive tract. I thought it would related to choking.
Now lead has been detected in some baby bibs sold at Toy's R Us. ..and guess were they're from. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070816/ap_on_re_us/tainted_bibs;_ylt=AucHePh7Z0S7O63P3F52AcGs0NUE
There is a recall regarding Chinese made baby cribs sold at Wal-Mart. This appears to be an unintentional design flaw. Article is from an Australian source, but the recall is in the U.S.. http://www.smh.com.au/news/World/On...-recalled-in-US/2007/09/22/1189881814035.html
A few more Chinese toy recalls. But seriously: Who would have thought "Cub Scout Badges"? http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-scout6oct06,0,81599.story?coll=la-home-center Razor electric scooters sold at Pep Boys: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/10-05-2007/0004676671&EDATE=
LOL sometimes blaming is easier than taking responsibility A manufacturer unless intentional or manufactured not to specs or using material out of specs is not to blame for a flaw in the design or material selection. Its also the responsibility of the designer or buyer to test the equipment to assure the mfg is in specs (unless otherwise noted in the contract of manufacturing that the manufacturer must meet certain specifications). eq: if you buy groceries and then cook them for your guests and they get sick because it was not thoroughtly cooked or you left it out of the fridge too long - whos fault is it ?
I see the foreign manufacturers and importers both being at fault here, but if the manufacturers are intentionally producing out of spec and down-wright harmful goods like anti-freeze toothpaste that are wildly out of spec for sale in this country I'd say that the lions share of the blame is on the manufacturer. There is a mixture of intintional and unintentional things that have sparked these recalls. To me uninterntional - neglegance and intentional = criminal act.
