So there I am, coming home from returning a library book. Just stopped raining. It's a two lane road here in Snellville, and a guy is turning left. Old guy, would not turn as long as there was a car in sight. Sitting there patiently, I check the mirrors every few seconds like I always do; I'm pretty paranoid. Notice a grey old Civic zooming up at a fair pace. Funny, looks like he's not slowing down. Nope. Oh SH*T he's not slowing down! As I realize this he finally slams his brakes and starts sliding around, still approaching at a good speed. Within the span of a second or so I think "Ah crap, I just GOT this car... wait, if he hits me I probably won't be able to go to the beach this weekend... probably ought to get out of the way or something" and quickly scoot off to the left as oncoming traffic was pretty far off still. Illustrated below. Guy finally comes to a halt, probably a freaking INCH from my bumper, and definitely would've smacked into me had I not gotten out of the way. I still don't know how he managed to slow down that fast the last 20 feet...I was sure he wasn't going to make it. He rolls down the window and waves nervously; I wave back. No need to be nasty since he probably scared the crap out of himself right then. Be careful out there.. and check your mirrors like a freaking hawk.
Where in Snellville? I was working last night, and I greatly appreciate you taking it upon yourself to prevent an accident while some other idiot was driving HUA. Defensive driving is more important than many people realize. I probably owe you one, you may've saved me some paperwork
I am glad that you are OK. Have a great 4th!!!. I had a very scary situation like that about 2 months ago when I was taking a left from Barrett Parkway to get some gas at BP and some guy in a truck went up on the median to avoid hitting the guy in front of him and almost hit me head on. I believe that I wouldn't be around if he had hit me... He was flyin' and he looked wasted also... Mark
This was on Bethany Church heading towards 78 from the library. Yeah, defensive driving is key to surviving out there... I've been riding motorcycles for 15+ years so it's pretty well hammered into my head,
ever since that guy got his silver WRX squished between two trucks, I've been checking my rearviews constantly. Good job!
yuea..i try to be aware of everything..you never know what some of the other idiots are doing while they are driving
I really can't stand how people never use their turn signal...especially those like 2-3 lane manuevers :thumbsdow
Yeah, no kidding. Out here in Snellville, the light by Ross Rd and 78 is horrendous. I regularly see people blow through the light at 60+ several seconds after it turns.
