i want to get a downpipe for my car and i currently have a cat back and intake and bov..i have heard that a downpipe can cuse overboost..i just want to know what exactly can this do to my car like if i put the downpipe on and im careful and watch my boost will i be ok for a little while until i get it tuned..and also if i do hit it can i just reset the coomputer if it throws a cel..also someone mentioned a AP check dows anyone know what this is??
"boost creep" is something that is not very common for the td04 and wrx's. It happens more often to STi's and vf39.
yea it wouldn't creep it would probably hit "boost cut" which i believe is 17psi on a stock ecu....I've done it twice, when it's real cold out and at WOT in 4th gear...
yeah i just didnt want it to mess up my car horribly or anything everyone on nasioc told me not to do it id blow my motor and i just didnt know what to do..because i know many people with the downpipe and exhaust and other stuff but i just wanted to be sure its not going to mess anything up..
yeah i ran a full exhaust (including up-pipe) for about 4 or 5 months before i got my ecutek. hell if i had to do it again i would have bought EM before my exhaust. but thats just me. ooh oooh, 1000 posts!
I ran a full turbo back exhaust for a while with and without a tune. I purchased a boost gauge so I could monitor boost when I swapped the dp. I never saw it go above max boost. I rarely saw it reach max boost. You really have to get on it hard to see it. Needless to say, buy a boost gauge and you will know whats going on.
probably bc you have a bugeye and it's a 2.0L is why you never hit boost cut.......from what I've read 06-07 hit boost cut bc its a 2.5L......shit i donno
well i have 07 rex and what u r worried about happened to me driving up here from da 305 and i got a check engine light with a blinking cruse control light. and i have HKS down pipe with an STI catback (for stealthy look) and i over boosted to 18 psi on 5th gear and fuel cut after the 18psi and i dont have a boost controller just a small delay on the wastegate to boost 16 on the stock ecu..
Just get a cable and tune it yourself...all you have to do is slightly lower the wastegate duty cycles or lower the turbo dynamics numbers on either side...not tough. You could probably even find a "stage2" tune out there that someone has already.
