We are thinking of starting a league at Andretti SpeedLab on Monday nights 8-10pm. Cost is $30 per person. At this point you have to have a license, but thats only $7. The course will be a drift setup on the circle track, we will be using LEAGUE Karts with NO GOVERNOR. 4 Karts at a time, 3 sessions 6 minutes a piece. If you are SERIOUSLY INTERESTED, post up cause we have 20 spots available. We will be taking prepayment if enough interest is received.
come on now you know you can't rant like that..... http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7228
Andretti really sucks now..they used to be good but they screwed us over 3 times in the past few months....that and the last time we were up there they told us that they didn't do the drifting again.... good luck with it guys!
Yo bro, quit attacking a moderator. This sounds like a great idea. I wasnt aware of shittiness with their management but if they'll allow it lets do it.
we were up there last week and they said the owners don't want the drifting anymore and they discontinued it.
monday is the night for the cheap race/beer and free licenses so you could ignore the $7 for a license. It's crowded as hell from about 8 on.
I just remember going for some holiday recently, and that I think you (2pt5RS) called ahead to let them know we were coming, and when we got there, they didn't have any open track time for like 2 hours. Sucks, cause Andretti's could be cool, but recently they have been sucking ass.
Let me clarify what 2pt5rs is refering to. We had gone up there on the 28th to drift for my bday, but got turned down and told they discontinued drifting. We had gone up the thursday before and were able to drift by chance but on the 28th the owner was there and there was no way we could be snuck in. I went up with dan, tracy, and brandon this past monday night and our friend/employee up there said he has talked to management and this is a go pending guaranteed interest/attendance by 20 people. So let's do this. Drifting in the league karts is going to be insane! Also this would take place from 8-10pm which i believe they said would be about 14 races. then after that the half price adult track/ draft beers/ free arcade would kick in.
^^^ Just tell her its like her S2000 LOL! And yeah the past few times I had planned on going they were pricks...Keegans bday and new years...
Will, For the past couple months, a few of us have gotten together and gone up to andretti on several occasions to do some racing. After calling before hand and them saying sure no problem, we've arrived there and found out that they were booked solid from either a private function or karting school for kids on the big track. So there is a serious break in communication between the people in the offices answering the phones and the front counter where they are taking (or in this case not taking) our money. I really hate that we turned a great vendors thread into an all out andretti bash, but I personally won't endorse andretti any longer. Come to think of it, the andretti's are the apparent owners once again, so that means that someone famous was there that night! Its just a shame that they are the only karting place in Atlanta now. We need a kickass place that is cheaper and better.
The karts are also extremely unbalanced, with a couple being a good few seconds faster. Still good fun though, especially with the buy one get one free coupons.
any importlounge people on here? back in 02 andretti actually let us 'tray slide' in their parking lot (I didnt do it)..basically they let a bunch of kids do burnouts unsupervised and uninsured (andretti's, not the drivers). oh, the good old days
WE have about 10 people confirmed from IA, 5 from BG Crew, so it looks like the interest is def there.
Mike, I do want to apologize for completely destroying your thread. Have fun and good luck out there!
Dont apolagize, if there is a problem , your making us aware so we can make sure it doesnt happen on our watch when we decide to do this
The normal grey karts that everyone gets are typically very different from one another, but the black league karts we'll supposedly using are pretty even and very very fast.
we're using andretti go-karts that typically found on the road course they have there. then we're taking them to the circle track instead and slicking down the entry point of both of the two corners then drifting the karts just like in j-pan. it's pretty much like real drifting, you have to countersteer, keep on the gas to keep sliding, feint into the corner...etc You'll love it.
