Gotsol (Patrick) told me to stop in here. I'm actually from Maryland, but I come down south fairly often to autocross. I probably have met a couple of you at some of the Atlanta Region events.... I think Meredith is on here, and I see Scott Siegel is a vendor. I own two Camaros and an Impreza 2.5RS (model year 2000), though I'm currently looking to sell the RS and replace it with something else.... maybe a 2006-07 WRX or a Mazdaspeed 3. So.... just saying "hi." Karen
Welcome to the board! I say if you are going to replace an rs, you may as well just stick with subie. My buddy i work with has a mazda speed 3 and i must say it is pretty fast. Kinda keeps up with my sti. Actually it doesn't, but it does better than most. Good luck with your decision though. WRX... Yeah you know you want another subie!
about time you sign up Karen! I thought you would have signed up after the Subaru Challenge last year.....after you showed the boys what's what! :wavey: welcome!
when i first met karen I thought she lived in Atlanta because she was at ever autox Karen has also driven the famous "stompy"....
Hey, now! Meredith was showing them too (when she wasn't hitting cones ). And, yes, I have the honor of driving "Stompy" and a ton of other Subies. I did test drive the WRX today. 15300 miles! Completely stock.... except.... it has this stupid crazy stereo. ssh: Ick. I put a hold on it until I get back from showing my RS on Monday. The one thing, besides the stereo, that might kill it for me is the paint... It's silver.... with..... blue ghost flames. ssh: I don't know if I could handle that.
Hi Karen...welcome to the forums....I was raised in MD and live in NoVa. Do you get on the MAIC forums on NASIOC?. Mark
who are you? Just kidding, Welcome Karen. This lady will out drive all ya'll (maybe even you WJM) Oh, and her RS is a clean ride with some nice mods.
Yep, I'm on NASIOC -- one of the 4-digit peeps. I post a lot in Motorsports, but occasionally in MAIC and SEIOC. My SN there is CamaroFS34. And WJM knows I can outdrive him. But I defer to his car-fixing superiority!
I never said otherwise. I still hate working on GM's...but I sure can get the job done. Even with limited tools and under a time limit at an autox. ssh:
While I signed the paperwork today, I don't have it in my possession yet. :wtc: I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. That's what I get for going to the dealership by myself today! I decided to not trade in the RS, since I'm sure I could do better selling it on my own than what they were "willing" to do for a trade-in, so I just signed about a billion pieces of paper, got the tags, and had them hide it in "the vault" until I can get it. You can kinda of guess the color from the car's "name" already....
Yeah, once I get some stuff for it. I think the hardest thing will be to track down some stock struts so I can hack them up for the Koni inserts.
maybe not http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18676 IIRC the struts are the same, the only change is the rear tophats (which I assume you can just use your stock tophats/grp n's)
I did this, posted a "Want" ad on Nabisco and had like 10 replies the first day. Ended up with all four struts for $50, though they weren't blown. A female might even be able to get them for free, considering the sad, desperate state of affairs that is the interpipes and Nabisco...
btw, there is a guy on the forums looking for a rolling chassis to put his totaled STi drivetrain into...might be a good sale for the RS!
