:bowdown:is all i have to say about about this clutch. its awesome, recommended for anyone that has an STi or WRX. grabs about 1000% harder then stock but clutch feel is pretty much the same.
I just got the sb5-hdmm pressure plate and clutch from ACT (to go with an OEM 06 WRX flywheel) and am excited to see how it goes. I've heard good things about the engagement so i'm glad to see it echoed by you. I did the lightweight flywheel and hated it but to each their own i guess
i believe i paid 500 as well, with a $600 bill for install and all fluid's flushed and changed from the dealer.
Light weight flywheels let the engine rev quicker, but the trade off is that they make the car easier to stall while taking off.
hell yea. i've stalled it about 3 times in a week which is more then ever. the clutch wants to grab really hard and it always wants to die 400 more miles til the break-in is complete...:naughty:
I love mine but wish I had gone a bit lighter on the flywheel. The noise can't be any worse on the 9.1lb vs. 13.1 that I have.
The CHa Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha cha or depending on your phonetics. Gra gra gra gra gra gra gra gra gra during deceleration, usually in 3rd gear between 30 and 20 mph. There are a few causes of the noise, but it is normal and just part of the package when you go with a lightweigt flywheel...some cars do it more than others, but Subarus have loud gear boxs to begin with. A lightweight flywheel by its nature, absorbs less of the normal gear chatter that is already present in the tranny...or to put it another way, because it has less mass the gears can chatter more. Add stiffer tranny mounts, crossmember and differential bushings and it gets even louder. As far as driveability, I am running the exact same set up as the OP...it is only really annoying if you get stopped on a really steep incline...like a steep driveway...it is very hard to get your car going without burning some clutch.
^^Slowsoul I could not say it any better but it definitely goes away as soon as you get on the gas. Mine does it in 2-3 the most. Much less with the 6mt than the 5mt. Prolly the additional 80+lbs of the 6mt.
I'm gonna chime in here and say that I've been running an ACT streetlite flywheel, HD pressure plate and clutch for a little over a year now and haven't had any problems. I've always heard that people get misfire CEL's, among other problems and I haven't experienced any of those. My problem with the stock set up was that my clutch engagement always felt... soft. When I upgraded, I immediately noticed a difference and was much happier. I highly recommend ACT.
i do believe u just saved me from tearing apart my whole set up and changing the throw out bearing. thats what i thought the noise was. i get it mostly in 2-3 and it scared the shit outta me. but anyway thank you
