I buy and rebuild cars. I just bought an 04 hit in the right front. I cant get this thing to start, checked the timing belt its not broken has compression has fuel, and spark. Any tips yall can give me? if not anyone in atlanta i can take this car too? I really wanna get it running before i repair it. It also had a wrxatlanta.com sticker under the mirror so I guess it belonged to someone on this board. Thanks for any tip yall can give me.

Maybe it has Cobb's antitheft map as basemap?

Is the starter working? Is it spinning the motor? Are all of the coils down on the spark plugs? Does it start and then stall? Its hard to diagnose your problem when the only info we're working off of is that it wont start.

yeah the air box is trashed, installed a new mass air, all the coils are on the plugs. yeah it does kinda start for a second then die and not start again. I know nothing about thses cars, just bought it cheap and heard they are fun to drive.

I am betting that its not reading the appropriate air assuming everything else is fine. PM Kingwrex, maybe you can get him to come to you and diagnose it

Check for any massive pre-throttlebody vacuum leaks. I had one right at the turbo inlet and it caused my car to stall occasionally when cranking.

Double check you installed the new MAF correctly & not backwards. It's held in by 2 small screws which are slightly offset. With a little effort it's possible to install it 180 degrees from where it's supposed to be. Not that I would know.... ;P

With the MAF backwards, the car will start, then get a negative airflow reading (I assume) & immediately shut off again. Sounds similar to your problem.
