Im going to trade my car in for an sti soon, how much do you think they will give me for my car. 2004 WRX 68k miles in fkn perfect condition. Im looking to trade it in for a 2004/05 sti in any color with less then 50k if that matters.
I think you should go in there knowing how much your car's bluebook value is for dealer trade. Work from there.
http://www.kbb.com/kbb/default.aspx?trid=20&psid=1-114-6700-5-407-3&gclid=COmPsfTa9pICFRE0FQod9zt2Gg I sold a pick up truck to car max a couple of years ago. I keep my vehicles ultra clean as you obviously do. They gave $500 over blue book. I did not purchase a car from them. They just cut me a check. I was very impressed. If you're looking to make money over blue book you may want to sell it privately. You could also get a quote from carmax and take that to a dealer to use as leverage for trade in value.
Don't get hung up on asking prices on autotrader. They are generally inflated so sellers can "deal". Also check edmunds.com and nada.com . I agree with others, best off to sell it privately and also to buy privately. Saves sales tax that way too!
Yeah, for sure. Imho dont expect too much for your car... keep it for a few more years and let it go for 10k.
In my recent experiences, most dealerships (and Carmax) are working off 'auction' values for trade-ins. Especially for cars that are a few years older and may not get sold on thier lot. Your WRX should be worth more to a Suby dealer if they have a 'Used Suby' dealership. That auction value is thier starting point, and your KBB Private Party value should be your starting point. Somewhere in the middle is the actual value they'll give you, and that can also depend on other parts of the deal. For instance, if you are financing through them, have a large down payment, or are buying a car at MSRP then they should be able to give you more for the trade in since they'll make more cash on other parts of the deal.
I was offered $12000 at one of local suby dealer (assuming I put it everything back to stock) for trade-in to LGT spec-B (no $$ off on new car neither). I said have a nice day and left. I'm sure that you can do better than $11000
