Here is an email I received from Dean. He is the one who tinted my STi. I stand behind his work 100% I thought it would be a good idea, with summer coming and with so many new owners to the community, to try and throw together a tint day. Dean is willing to offer discounts on his work and it would be a good excuse for a couple of us (especially the new guys) to get to gether alex ------------------ Last year I did some window tinting deals for EvoAtlanta.com, WRXAtlanta.com and S2kAtlanta.com. I'm going to extend the same deals this year to anyone that is interested. If possible and everyone would like to do it, we could even do a "Tinting" day where we can meet somewhere (an area that is covered and has electricity!) and I can push out 3-4 cars that day. Or, if there is more interest, we can extend it into a weekend and I can put you 6-8 cars that weekend! Here is the skinny on me. I have over 11 years of window tinting experience. I've managed a few shops and even started my own company last year. I decided that window tinting was as profitable as I had hopped and so I continued my career as a computer scientist. However, I still have film and I still tint cars on the side. I do top notch work and have done plenty of cars in these clubs, so ask around and I'm sure someone will let you know of my work. I do all rear windows in one piece (no seams), all roll-ups are tinted to the very top edge and shaved so there will be no gaps. Also, all of the film comes with a lifetime warranty. I have plenty of film left over from last years venture. It's all Llumar window film. I have a dye, metal mix, Full metal and even a ceramic film. Each adjusts the pricing a little bit. However, I'm going to offer extremely low prices to you guys in order to clear out this film inventory and pay off my venture debt that is still sitting on a credit card. For WRX's only, I'm offering the following: Dye/Metal mix: $150 A Dye/Metal mix is a good value film. The dye gives you a matte look, while the metal gives you performance. The dye is a non color changing dye, so it won't turn purple on you. It offers 45% heat rejection and 99% UV protection. Full Metal: $175 A full metal film offers higher heat rejection at 52%. However, since there is no dye in the film, it does produce a sort of metallic / reflective look. Also, full metal films have been known to interfere with some car electronics and cellular phones. I'd recommend this film to anyone that wants the full benefits of heat rejection but doesn't mind the neutral reflective look. Ceramic: $175 Ceramic film is the newest technology on the window film market. It offers all of the benefits of metal films, but since there is no metal involved, it is guaranteed to not interfere with the cars electronics. Typically, cars are being tinted for upwards of $500 a pop with ceramic film. The national average is $350 a car. I'm going to be cheaper naturally because of this offer and because it's left over inventory. Here are some photo's of some cars I have done:
great prices, i'm in! let us know when this is going to happen alex let me know if a friend can join in on this
I usually charge $150 to remove and replace. The back windows can either be very easy or very hard to remove. The side windows are pretty easy, however, you must be very meticulous in getting all of the left over adhesive that sticks to the window when you pull the film off. If you would like to try it yourself, I can give you details on how to do it below, however, if you come to me to get your car tinted and there is still adhesive in the corners of the windows, I will still charge the $150 to remove it, especially after it's been gunked up by someone else which makes it twice as hard for me to do it correctly. For side windows: Get a spray bottle of water with a few dabs of dish soap in it. Shake it up. Get a box of 1" single edge razor blades. Roll the window down until the lip is exposed. Pick at a corner of the film on the window and pull hard. DO NOT remove all of the film initially. Just the top half. Now, spray the window with the soap/water solution and use your razor blade by running the razor in a straight line down the window. The adhesive will come off fairly easy. After a 10 or so swipes with the razor blade, throw it away and use a new one. This keeps you from cutting the window from a dull blade. When done with the top half (Don't forget to get in those corners!!) roll the window up, pull the remaining film from the window, and do the same as the top half. Again, the corners are IMPORTANT. Rear Window: Get a large black trash bag. Get a bottle of BLUE WINDEX. Get a new single edge razor blade. Lay the trash bag on the out side of the rear window. Cut the bag to size keeping in mind the black border of the window. Now, spray liberally the Windex on the inside of the window and then get the trash bag and place it on the INSIDE of the window while it is wet. Smooth it out to the best of your ability, but don't worry too much about air pockets. Just get the big ones out. Then park the car directly in the sun so the sun hits the back window. Every 45 minutes come outside, and check the back window by trying to pick an edge of the film off the window with your finger nail. If it comes off really easy, SLOWLY start to pull. If it's really hard to pull of, don't pull. You may leave adhesive on the glass. Instead, pull off the trash bag, soak it with windex again and replace the trash bag and put it back out in the sun. Repeat until the film on the window becomes easy to pull off. BE WARNED, some window film comes off very easy in a matter of minutes, other cheaper film gets very brittle or the adhesive is very old, it will take you getting back there with a chore boy and windex and scrubbing like you've never scrubbed before. Hope it is relatively good adhesive/film.
I'm fine with this as long as it's a WRX 4 door. Keep in mind that Wagons are naturally larger and so they will cost more. If he has another vehicle, please let me know what it is and I will quote you a price with the discount.
I am interested by I don't have a boring WRX, I have a Wagon. How much more is the wagon going to run?
I would be interested in this service, time permitting. When, where, etc will be the deciding factors.
I also am down, I've been wanting to get it tinted for a while now. but would you have any trouble doing an 08 5 door?
If the rear seat belts go over those rear windows, then yes, $40 a piece. If the rear seat belts are not going over those rear windows, then I'll cut that price in half. It's dealing with sliding film in between those seatbelts without collecting garbage in the film that's a PITA. If I don't have to worry about that, it's not so bad.
The time and date is up to you guys. Anytime on a Saturday or Sunday is fine. I'm doing S2kAtlanta.com at some point as well, but they have to decide on a time too. So if you guys come up with a time/date before they do, you're first! The location will also be determined by you guys. What I will need is a garage area that has power and is capable of putting a car in there and also allow me to have all 4 doors open when inside. So, pick a good central location for everyone and someone that has a decent sized garage.
Yes. Please read a few posts up where I describe how much I charge and how you can do it if you want to do it on your own.
Batlground sounds like a good idea. I could ask about maybe using ArtCraft's body shop for a Saturday.
100% in, everybody has been on my case about my nasty tint aslo do you have the clear UV film for the front windshield? Thanks
Unfortunately, my fiance wouldn't like if I did it on the 31st so much because I will be getting married on that day. We can do the 24th, 25th, 7th, 8th, etc... Just not the weekend of the 31st. Sorry.
...what if we came to the wedding? lol just kidding, but yea i'm down for the 7th or 8th of june and congratulations man
i've got a friend whos probably down with gettin the ceramic for his 98 outback wagon. how much would that be?
I'm not going to do those just by themselves. They're quite honestly a waste of my time as they are obnoxious to do. Not hard to do, but obnoxious... If you want one of those done, check out one of your local window tinting dealer and they can probably put one in for you for $20 or $30.
Organize, people... organize! It's not up to me, it's up to your club. The only dates I can't do are May 17th, May 31st/June 1st. Other than that, it's up to you guys to tell me when and where.
I'm down! I'll keep checking for dates and details. I just need to request the time off from work What % is that ceramic stuff or do you have it multiple gradients?
yea, that was my first option but dean didnt specify if he can do it that weekend, can you do it on the 7/8th dean?
