Keep checking Ebay and Craigslist for about a month and see if parts start showing up. Unfortunately, there's not much luck in finding the bike in one piece, unless whoever stole your bike is stupid and decides to ride it around. I would check cities in Craigslist that are up to a few hours away too as some people might try to sell the parts out of a city away from Atlanta to lower his/her chances of getting caught.

    Yep.
My guitarist had his main stage guitar stolen and found it 6 months later on craigslist. Posted by guy who stole it
Too bad it was a custom guitar

The moral of the story is that criminals are stupid, that's why they're criminals. You'll get your bike back. I'll keep an eye out for ya!

as a rider, i can promise you I have my eyes open. One of the reasons I ride an SV is that there isn't any bodywork or nice parts to sell.

Hey, you hear about the shop at highway 5 and Shallowford where the guy recently loaded everything up and skipped town? All the customer's bikes, tools, lifts, merchandise, everything... gone. Since mid June he had a sign on the door that said "we'll be closed until July 14th..." and so far there's no sign. I know two ppl who both had bikes there. I dodged the bullet because I had planned on taking him MY bike to get tires installed but procrastinated a week (the week he skipped town). I went the end of June to drop mine off and he was gone. All I found was the sign.

Motorcycle theft is rampant in ATL. I have heard friends joke about not even bothering to buy a GSX-R because oh how fast they get stolen.

One of my fraternity brothers got his Honda 900RR stolen from the fraternity house parking lot in broad daylight. The police department ended up recovering what was left of the bike a month or two afterwards. Good luck to your friend, this shit is weak.

Can't stand it when people steel. Best of luck to your friend. I hope he gets lucky and finds it. (my friend has his repsol stolen and found someone riding it a few days later. ended up getting it back with no damage, other than it wasn't orange anymore)

Had a buddy had his 2000 ducati 996 stolen from the back porch of a buckhead apartment. All they found was a stripped frame in a gravel quarry. He was not a happy camper. This was back in like 2001. The police told him that there was a major theft ring for bikes where they take them and strip them down and sell the parts overseas.

agree, and bikes are just the beginning. I know three different people that have had their tools stolen in the last two weeks. One guy was hit twice!

I got to think of that I'm going to do with mine when I bring it back. I can't keep it at my sister's, it might be staying in a storage unit for a bit.

Yeah my apartment complex is no exception. Luckily I have no major TV or computer components since I am out most of the time. I definitely take my lap top with me every day. Sucks to have to live like that but you get what you pay for and I don't pay big money for a simple decent place, yet the ghetto is always lurking, even in pretty little Roswell...........

When I was living on the southside. I didn't have any problems with three dogs and a goat guarding the house. The day we moved them my patio furniture was stolen.... ended up being the neighbor and a friend down the road. we got it back but since then I hear that place has been hit twice more. I'm happy to be out of that area for sure.

So any news on the bike? Leads?

sadly no leads :(, but i am sure it's already down to bolts by now. It's simply shaming to see what people these days will steal. One guy tried to steal friend's Protien Shake out of his jeep at gas pump while he was inside paying....wtf? I don't trust my car in my public areas, it stays garaged 24/6...comes out one day. Time to put new Security Warning on the driver/passenger windows....little clear gun vinyl :D.

sucks there were no leads. Tell me he had full coverage on it atleast....:sx:

dude, if he had liability only then there was no lein on the bike. so he paid off a 2007 zx6r but only got liability insurance? wow.

You can actually get liability only on motorcycles without having paid the full thing off. Just depends on your financing source and insurance company. I know a few people who are paying for bikes that they no longer have.

why i dont carry liability on my bikes......that was a bad idea on his part. Will never see it again.

if you do the credit card financing through these companies there is no requirement to carry full coverage. A lot of people do it that way so they can afford insurance on them.
