When I shift into 5th it always chips/grinds just a little. This is happening under normal driving with clutch all the way in. It is a pretty new clutch as well. Can this be adjusted???? Thanks
i had a friend who had that problem but with third and it was his syncro's going out...the teeth became slightly ground down and it was not allowing the rings to seperate fully or soemthign like that, im no tranny expert.. not sure if its the same for you... gl though
You can also adjust the clutch pedal free play. There is a screw that allows the pedal to push the clutch fork further in or less if thats what you want. Adjust it with some wrenches to force it in a little further. You only need to adjust it a small amount to see a noticeable change. Although the fact that it only happens in fifth gear is probably a synchro issue, but the free play is at least something free to try.
when I got my new clutch it took a couple of weeks worth of driving before it felt normal. When I first got it, it would finally release VERY close to the floor. Now it releases at the stock "middle of pedal travel". So maybe you just need some more "settle" time if its brand new.
did you get a lightweight flywheel installed at the same time? If so, you'll get that noise...it's normal.
